As we approached the restaurant I didn’t even check the front door area for mask signs. We walked in, mask-less, and I was immediately surprised by everyone wearing a mask. After providing a name we sat and waited. There was a small group of police officers waiting as well and they kept glancing over at us. After we were seated I could see a sign posted on the other door: masks required. Not one person –not the patrons, not the staff nor the police officers said a word. We ended up sitting at the table next to the officers and I spoke to them a few times, but not one word about us not masking. The good news will be posted soon, but brace yourselves. There’s also some sad news. I share, because I care. Prepare accordingly 👇🏻

Had some fun today. Big Fun! My daughter is turning 5 next week so I surprised her by taking her out for lunch. Just us ❤️ Then we stopped by a friend’s house to pick up some cookies she made for her. Guess what we’re eating this weekend?! 😃

I’ve read comments over the last few months along this vein: “I feel kind of guilty for laughing when there are so many bad things happening…” Our minds try to reconcile our emotions. If we’re grieving, if we’re angry it can feel strange to give in to a lighthearted moment. Yet, the human experience tells us that we can understand sadness and joy at the same time; that not everything, including our emotions, can be so easily compartmentalized. Sometimes we’re not in the frame of mind where we want to see the humor. Understandable. Some of us are going through the hardest moments of our lives. However, if we get to a point where we refuse ourselves the benefit of laughing, of finding joy, or just simply smiling, we could be moving towards an unhealthy outlook. No, we cannot ignore sorrow and we cannot run from it, but perhaps we cannot rationalize it either. That is, we cannot embrace sorrow over living and loving. Good things do happen. This is the perspective that we all need; it’s called hope, and it allows us to keep the good things in focus when we’re walking through the worst of things. This hope allows us to smile and laugh, and take pleasure in other people’s joy. Humans are capable of duality: we can focus on more than one thing at a time. It’s what allows us to discover, mature, thrive and love. These invaluable lessons we’ve learned are the priceless jewels we pick up along our journey. Enjoy these gifts.

Dear Mr Lin Wood, I’ve been thinking over your proposal of getting semi-truck drivers –and truck owners– to create some blockades in the Atlanta area. I like this fighting spirit! 🇺🇸 Perhaps, instead of inconveniencing our fellow Americans, Patriots need to direct their ire towards the corrupt politicians. One idea is to have truck drivers deliver copious amounts of The Constitution and Bill of Rights directly to the lairs of our would be Overlords. Surely there are some resolute truck drivers willing to do something non-violent and heroic. I know Patriots will enthusiastically donate to the cause. Hmm… if only we could locate an appropriate place to bring our gifts 🤔

Love seeing y’all reach out to help one another, too 😊 Reading the comment section on any channel tells a little bit about the mood of folks. My heart breaks for all the different trials we’re facing. There are some ideas bouncing around in my head about what to write while we're in the midst of all the strangeness and chaos. However, I’d like to take the time to ruminate and pray before posting. Friday the good news that has accumulated for the week gets posted. And perhaps there’s a recipe or two that can be shared as well 🤔 In the meantime, I’d like to point out that any of these beautiful ladies (and sweet babies) that are posted are not me and mine.
