▰ تُضمرُ «أنْ» وجوبًا بعد لامِ الجحودِ، وذلكَ على رأْيِ البصريّينَ، الذين يرونَ أنَّ نصبَ الفعلِ بعدها يكونُ بـ «أنْ» مضمرةٍ وجوبًا. أمّا الكوفيّونَ، فيرونَ أنّ لامَ الجحودِ هي النّاصبةُ للفعلِ نفسِه. ويشترطُ في لامِ الجحودِ أنْ تسبقَ بكونٍ ناقصٍ منفيٍّ ماضٍ لفظًا ومعنًى، كقوله تعالى: ﴿مَا كَانَ اللَّهُ لِيَذَرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلَىٰ مَا أَنْتُمْ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّىٰ يَمِيزَ الْخَبِيثَ مِنَ الطَّيِّبِ﴾، أو منفيٍّ معنًى فقطْ، كقوله تعالى: ﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا وَظَلَمُوا لَمْ يَكُنِ اللَّهُ لِيَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ وَلَا لِيَهْدِيَهُمْ سَبِيلًا﴾. وكما وقعتْ لامُ الجحودِ بعد الكونِ المسبوقِ بـ «ما» و «لمْ»، فقدْ تقعُ أيضًا بعد المسبوقِ بـ «إنْ»، كقوله تعالى: ﴿وَإِنْ كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ الجِبَالُ﴾، وذلكَ على قراءةِ الجمهورِ بكسرِ اللّامِ ونصبِ الفعلِ (تزولَ)، وتكونُ «إنْ» بمعنَى «ما»، والتّقدير: وما كانَ مكرُهم لتزولَ منه الجبالُ؛ تصغيرًا لمكرِهم وتحقيرًا له، وبيانًا أنّه شيءٌ لا يُعتدُّ بِه. وقدْ أجازَ بعضُ النّحاةِ حذفَ لامِ الجحودِ مع إظهارِ «أنْ»، كقوله تعالى: ﴿وَمَا كَانَ هَذَا القُرْآنُ أَنْ يُفْتَرَىٰ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ﴾، أيْ: لِيُفترَىٰ.
