Hi! I have an HP 15-ay074nl with an i7-6500U processor and 12 GB of RAM. I'm currently trying to build my first Hackintosh for macOS Monterey. So far I've managed to build all the EFI, but when I try to launch the installation it never works. It seems to go into kernel panic. I've tried a few solutions with some suggestion in some forums but that didn't help. Can someone help me?

| 3 | Is there any reliable way to install High Sierra on an older PC?
I'm asking because I'd like to play around with an old Mac setup again. I still have my old boxed copy of iLife, and I'd love to go back to GarageBand.
I have an old PC with a Z390 motherboard and an NVIDIA GTX 1070. I was thinking about installing High Sierra because I don't want to spend money on a nostalgia box. I also have no interest in running newer versions of macOS, especially since they no longer support many older applications. Ideally, I'd run Leopard or Snow Leopard, but I don't have compatible hardware, and as I said, I don't want to spend money just for nostalgia.
The Dortania guide has been a complete disaster for me. I managed to put together a reasonably decent OpenCore configuration by following it, but the installation always fails. Then I found out elsewhere that the Recovery images downloaded under Windows are basically useless—they simply don't work.
So I installed Catalina in VMware and downloaded the full High Sierra installer from within macOS instead. Same story again: most of the servers and download commands for older installers no longer work, and when I finally managed to download the installer, the createinstallmedia command that was supposed to prepare the USB drive crashed after running for a while and eventually returned an error.
Is there still a reliable way to create a bootable installer for an older version of macOS and install it on older PC hardware?

| 5 | Any tips before starting to create my EFI folder for my laptop?
Ello guys, I just recently got gifted this Dell Latitude 5580 for free from a family member, and I think I’m going to Hackintosh it, I know it’s going be a lot of trial and error, but hey, at least I’ll learn something during the process.
Here’s my specs:
— CPU: Intel Core i5-7440HQ, paired with integrated HD 630 graphics
— dGPU: Don’t have one.
— Memory: 12GB of DDR4 running in dual channel.
— Touchpad: Some Alps.
— Wi-Fi card: intel Dual-Band AC 8265.
— Display: 1920x1080 FHD IPS display.
— Drive: 256GB M.2 Toshiba SATA.
— Audio: Realtek ALC3246
My firmware settings (prepped):
— UEFi toggled to on.
— Switched from RAID to AHCI.
— 64MB is already pre-allocated to the memory (Can’t be changed.)
— SGX disabled.
— Secure Boot disabled, alongside TPM.

I’m aiming for Sequoia, I already have the full app downloaded on my mac, not dealing with macrecovery.py that’s for sure.
Is there anything I need to know before I start creating my EFI for my laptop? And what are your guy’s experiences on similar CPUs, and how’s the performance like?
P.S: I heard there was a lot of issues going around with OpCore Simplify generating borked EFIs, so that’s why I’m not using it or any other automated EFI configurator.

Got stuck in 2 places:
Blocker 1:
The installer media did not show up in OpenCore as config.plist was wrong. Ended up using Claude to diag/fix the problems. Driver listing - always copy from the sample.plist!
Blocker 2:
After the initial installer boot, booting starts but it did not start the GUI installer. Disabled secure boot, and got the installer going. Default -> Disabled for SecureBootModel. Somewhere in r/hacintosh mentioned this but I cannot remember/find it.

disabled the deep sleep for video not coming back sometimes but everything seems okay. Again, claude suggested.

USB:
did USB mapping with USBMap. You first need to enable XHCI quirk to enable USB 3.0, do discovery and create kext, then turn xhci quirk off. took me 3 tries since I did not enable XHCI and all ports became 2.0 speed. I nave now all 5 ports report as USB-3. (and 6 USB 2.0 ports)

| 10 | Sequoia not updating apps and system
6 months ago I reinstalled Sequoia (don't wanna install Tahoe) here and used my previously EFI. Dunno why, I have a strange behavior here. The last system update was 15.7.3 cause it not recognize new updates. When happens, like yesterday, was a Safari update. Same thing for apps. The App Store never show new updates, I have to open App Store and then he shows me which apps need to update. Something that I have to check on my EFI? Thanks!

So yesterday when i was doing all done well but at last point just before os boot screen went black i tried multiple times same result
toady i started fresh with few changes(wifi cardAX200), then after installing it got stuck on this line multiple times i tried multiple things but nothing worked

Hey everyone,
I've been a windows user for about 10 years now and that's been really fine for me. But with the new bloated updates releasing to windows I wanted to give macOS a try. Currently I run a dell latitude 5300 2-in-1. And these are my specs:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-8145U CPU @ 2.10GHz (2.30 GHz)
Installed RAM 8.00 GB (7.79 GB usable)
Graphics card Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 (128 MB)
Storage 167 GB of 238 GB used
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch Pen and touch support with 10 touch points

I am well aware of the losses I will get due to the lack of touch support and Airdrop due to my network card not being fully compatible. I did run an OpCore Simplify hardware report and I got the results of the attached image.

I was wondering on which version of macOS to use. For context:
\- I want to dual boot windows and macOS on the same PC
\- I plan to use macOS for light and frequent productivity tasks (i.e. During school/work)
\- I don't plan to game or use resource intensive apps like Photoshop or any other gpu reliant apps for that matter
\- I want it to look clean without it being completely unusable, I would like the liquid glass and overall customization provided by Tahoe but I do realize that the glass features require heavy processing power.
I may be wrong on this take. But I'm willing to free up space cause currently I've used 167GB of 238. I would appreciate if I can dual boot it and I'm vaguely aware of the process of running macOS on a windows PC, along with some basic idea of EFI.
I want help in selecting which version I should choose and whether I should really switch to it in the first place. I'm only switching cause I want a different feel from windows.
Currently, I'm pivoting between Sonoma and Tahoe, so I'd appreciate any support.
EDIT: I see that OpCore is not appreciated. But I don't know why, tell me if I should refrain from using it and any other alternative to install macOS.

The idea of hackintosh really fascinates me I have tried hackintosh some years ago on my dell Inspiron 5520 (it kinda worked) it's a really old laptop but I still daily drive. So i again wanna get back to hackintosh on the same exact laptop (I still daily drive that laptop and it still works good) i have tried Catalina before on that laptop but I was noob at that time I did booted up to Catalina but when I unplugged the usb it didn't booted up (now I know why it happened) so now I wanna try big sur "maybe" I lowkey spent a whole day trying to use big sur I was able to make offline installer but it didn't worked it showed that " update can't be done on this ..... Blah blah" (I don't remember the exact line) the fix was to make an online installer and idk why I have only booted up in hackintosh only once (when I tried years ago) but now whenever I try something happens and it doesn't end up working which is frustrating. So maybe someone please guide me I know the basics like how to make EFI & how to get iso file for big sur etc etc but still in the end something breaks idk why and also maybe u can guide me which version of hackintosh is best for my laptop

| 17 | iMessage not working on Tahoe
I just installed Tahoe on a Hackintosh that had been previously running Sequoia. iMessage was working there successfully. I reinstalled using the same config.plist (same SMBIOS, serial, etc). After signing into iCloud it shows "0 messages" and "not synced" but my phone shows "46,708 messages" in iCloud. I assumed it would start working right away but maybe it takes a while?

| 19 | Starting to install MacOS
Hi there, i am new to hackintosh and i was trying to install Sequoia until i got this screen which i am pretty sure that is not working due to unsupported GPU, I am using a ASUS TUF A14 FA401UU with both AMD iGPU and NVIDIA dGPU, i know that these components are not supported in MacOs as 90% of dGPUs are not compatible with MacOs. My question is how can I skip the verification or get the installation to work, cause i have seen post of many people installing MacOs without supported video cards. I would be pretty happy if someone could help me to handle this as i have no experience doing this before.

| 20 | Acer Nitro AN515-45 (AMD Ryzen) - Black Screen Immediately After Verbose [OpenCore]
Hey everyone,
I’m currently trying to install macOS on my AMD laptop, and I’m hitting a brutal black screen wall right when the graphics driver is supposed to initialize.
**Hardware Details:**
* **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 5800H (Zen 3 Cezanne)
* **GPU:** AMD Radeon Graphics (Integrated) & dGPU (Disabled via boot-args/SSDT)
* **RAM:** 16GB DDR4
* **Laptop Model:** Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-45)
* **Screen:** 144Hz FHD Internal Panel
* **OpenCore Version:** 1.0.0 (i lowkey dont remember which version and i dont know how to check, pls help)
* **macOS Version:** Ventura
**The Problem:** My system boots into the OpenCore picker perfectly. Originally, it was freezing at the ACPI/PCI tracking line, but I resolved that. Now, the verbose text scrolls beautifully, clears the `NRed` (NootedRed) and `RestrictEvents` initializations, flashes white for a split second, and then goes **completely black**.
The laptop stays fully powered on, and **the keyboard backlight and Caps Lock toggle are 100% responsive**, meaning the OS is alive in the background—the internal display panel backlight just refuses to turn on.
**What I Have Already Tried:**
1. **Basic Boot Args:** Running `-v keepsyms=1 debug=0x100 alcid=3`
2. **PCI Fix:** Added `npci=0x3000` (and tried `npci=0x2000`), which successfully got me past the initial ACPI/PCI freeze.
3. **Graphics Kext:** Using the latest `NootedRed.kext` (with `WhateverGreen.kext` completely removed as required).
4. **Backlight Arguments:** Tried `amdgpu_bl=1` and `amdgpu_bl=0` to force backlight routing.
5. **Display Tricks:** Tried `-nef` to disable external framebuffers, `-edidbeta` for the 144Hz panel, and even tested `-radvesa` to force basic safe graphics mode, but it *still* results in a black screen.
6. **Hardware Tricks:** Tried closing the laptop lid for 15 seconds to force sleep/wake and toggled brightness keys.
Does anyone with an AMD Acer Nitro 5 know the exact framebuffer patch or backlight tweak needed to make NootedRed cooperate with this internal screen?
