| 2 | Need Help setting icons for Each OS in OpenCore Picker GUI
Hello everyone, i have this Quick question about How do i set an icon (.icns) for Each OS? my Laptop (HP Pavilion dv6 7070ex) has 4 Oses on it:
macOS 15 Sequoia (15.7.8 RC4)
Windows 11 25H2
Ubuntu 26.04 lts
Arch Linux (latest Release)
And i want help setting the boot picker icons for each OS, i Currently have the goldegate theme applied for the Boot picker icons and i have my macOS & it's Recovery icns working correctly (had to name the mac icon i wanted Apple.icns for the OS and AppleRecv.icns For Recovery)
But with ubuntu and Arch Linux i have an issue where it just doesnt seem to add their icons respectively. Windows Icon Works Perfectly. What should i do?
i Should note that: I am using OpenLinuxboot.efi & ext4dxe.efi With my OpenCore config, and my scan policy is Set to 0 for scanning all volumes.
Here Are the specs Of the Device:
Intel Core i7-3610QM @ 2.3ghz
16 GB DDR3 Ram @ 1600mhz
Intel HD 4000 (igpu)
nVidia Geforce GT 630M (dGpu)
intel Centrino Wireless N-2230 Wifi & Bt Combo
realtek 8100, gigabit ethernet
PS/2 Keyboard
I2C Touchpad
2, USB 2.0 ports
2, USB 3.0 Ports
Audio working ( forgot the codec but it's Respective ALC layout is 84)
OSes: macOS Sequoia, Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, Arch Linux ( latest rolling Release), Windows 11 25H2
I Also have a question regarding the tocuhpad in the boot picker since it doesnt work at all with the touchpad But with a mouse it works Perfectly. Thank you for any help/information Provided!

| 3 | Need assistance on HP Gaming Pavilion 15-ec1003nq
The specs of the machine is a Ryzen 5 4600H, 12 GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM, GTX 1650 (will disable) and Vega iGPU. I built an Open Core EFI for it using the official Dortania guide, ProperTree and SSDTTime. No configurators or automated EFI building tools. Manually mapped USB ports with USBToolbox.
Trying to boot recovery shows prohibitory sign. Tried both macOS Tahoe and Ventura. The only way I was able to get past it is by enabling DevirtualiseMmio. I try to boot again and right after it shows the verbose, it freezes. Looks like it's freezing right after loading ACPI tables. I have tried stuff like enabling write unprotector, disabling SetupVirtualMap or enabling ReleaseUsbOwnership, none made a difference. Updating to latest BIOS didn't help either. I'm running latest OpenCore Debug version with all AMD patches applied and configured cores according to my CPU.

| 4 | Safe to upgrade from Monterey to Sequoia?
Hi,
I'm pretty new to Hackintosh. My system is currently running Monterey without any issues, and I can upgrade to Sequoia in System Settings.
Is it safe to upgrade directly, or should I check/update anything first (like OpenCore or my kexts)?
Thanks!

| 6 | without downloading the recovery again, preserves your existing SMBIOS, skips files that are already valid, and backs up the EFI before changing anythings
\- theres also a Restore EFI screen that can put one of those backups back if a repair or manual edit goes wrong
\- every build ends with a EFI sanity check for missing OpenCore files, invalid kext bundles, missing SSDTs, placeholder SMBIOS values, hardware mismatches, kext conflicts, and other stuff that would stop it booting
\- EFI Health Check works on Hackmate EFIs or one you made by hand, and checks orphaned ACPI renames, duplicate USBX tables, kexts that never inject, broken USB maps, SIP flags, deprecated kexts, boot args, and platform info
\- the health check is read only and can search mounted EFIs or take a path manualy, so it doesnt change the EFI its checking
\- theres a built in config.plist editor with simple and advanced modes, including verbose mode, debug args, SIP, SecureBootModel, picker timeout, recovery visibility, OC logging, SMBIOS, audio layouts, framebuffer suggestions, and dGPU disabling
\- the advanced config editor can read or set basically any dot seperated plist key as a string, bool, integer, or data value
\- the log analyzer reads OpenCore logs, kernel panic files, and normal boot logs, with over 60 known patterns and hardware aware suggestions for what probably caused it
\- it can also patch your USB to enable OpenCore file logging, then find the new log on the USB and analyse it after the failed boot
\- theres a BIOS checklist at the end of a build with the settings your likely need before trying to boot it
\- the updater checks for new versions on launch, shows what changed before updating, and source installs get updated from the exact commit instead of mixing files from differnt versions
\- downloads have live progress, recovery stalls have a timeout, SSL certificate failures have fallbacks, and Github rate limits now show the real error instead of everything silently failing
\- its fully open source, has no accounts, telemetry, or analytics, and macOS still comes from Apple while OpenCore, kexts, SSDTTime, HeliPort, and USBToolBox comes from their official projects
one correction from my old post, wifi credential injection was removed because itlwm doesnt actually support the WiFiCredentials key the way i originally thought it did.
for feature requests, tell me what you want it to do and what OS you would be running Hackmate from, because windows, linux, and macos sometimes needs completely different implementations.
# for bug reports, please include your host OS, machine model, CPU, GPU, wifi and ethernet chipset, what you expected, what actually happend, and the error or log if there is one.
hardware reports are useful even if it worked fine, since i obviously cant own every laptop, desktop, mini PC, Ryzen system, codec, trackpad, and network card myselfs.
the stuff i especially want feedback on is windows USB creation, dual boot detection, partition resizing, AMD systems, 14th/15th gen intel, manual hardware builds, EFI Health Check results, and weird I2C trackpads.
drop any requests or bugs below, even if it seems really hardware specific or kinda niche, because alot of the current support came from exactly those reports.

| 7 | Hackmate Feature Requests & Bug Reports #1
# I'm building a tool called HackMate that automates the entire process of creating a bootable OpenCore hackintosh USB.
# Please comment here if you find any bugs or you have feature requests for Hackmate
Starting off again, This isn't a beast tool or distro, it automates the Dortania guide steps using the same tools they recommend (macrecovery, SSDTTime, acidanthera kexts from GitHub releases). macOS comes directly from Apple. Nothing is patched or modified!
hackmate has gotten alot bigger since my last post, so i wanted to make one place for feature requests, bug reports and hardware that still isnt working right.
heres basically everything it can do right now:
\- runs on windows, linux, and macos, and windows has a full exe so theres no python install or terminal setup needed
\- has both the original terminal UI and a tkinter GUI, they both uses the same backend and generate the same EFI
\- scans your CPU, GPU, second GPU, audio codec, ethernet, wifi, touchpad, NVMe, thunderbolt, motherboard, and if your on a laptop or desktop
\- has a full manual hardware mode with intel 2nd through 15th gen, AMD Zen 1 through Zen 5, Threadripper, laptop APUs, and other options if your building the EFI for a differnt machine
\- filters the macOS list based on your hardware, with everything from Yosemite through Tahoe avalible depending on the CPU and GPU
\- can do a full USB build, use a already formatted USB, repair an existing EFI, or just generate a EFI folder if you dont have a USB plugged in
\- formats USBs as GPT/FAT32 and hides internal drives from the normal USB picker, which makes accidently wiping your main disk alot harder
\- downloads macOS recovery straight from Apples own servers using macrecovery, and caches it so you dont have to redownload the same version every build
\- generates the SMBIOS, serial, MLB, UUID, ROM, config.plist, boot args, device properties, ACPI patches, kernel quirks, and UEFI drivers automaticly
\- handles intel and AMD configs seperately, including AMD Vanilla patches, CPUID spoofing, newer intel topology fixes, Resize BAR settings, and unsupported CPU workarounds
\- detects supported iGPUs and adds the right framebuffer data, including headless desktop setups where the iGPU is only being used for encoding
\- detects Optimus laptops and can disable the Nvidia or AMD dGPU in config.plist, since macOS cant use switchable graphics properly
\- picks kexts based on the actual hardware instead of throwing everything into the EFI, including audio, ethernet, wifi, bluetooth, trackpads, battery, sensors, NVMe, card readers, and vendor specific laptop stuff
\- checks every kext download source before formatting the USB, and failed kexts gets removed from config.plist instead of leaving a broken entry behind
\- supports intel wifi with either itlwm plus HeliPort or AirportItlwm, and HeliPort gets saved into HackMate-Extras for after the install
\- downloads USBToolBox into HackMate-Extras and has a built in USB Mapping screen that applies your exported UTBMap.kext and fixes the config entrys for it
\- generates SSDTs using a 3 tier fallback, first SSDTTime from your real DSDT, then a compiled template, then a bundled AML if the other two cant work
\- supports SSDTs for EC, USBX, PLUG, PNLF, XOSI, GPIO, HPET, PMC, IMEI, GPRW and other hardware specific fixes, with missing tables removed from config so there isnt orphaned ACPI patches
\- has dual boot setup for windows, linux, or both, including OpenLinuxBoot.efi, Windows picker support, disk scanning, EFI bootloader detection, and conflict warnings
\- the disk map can find windows, regular linux installs, Bazzite, Nobara, Pop OS, and other EFI loaders without counting the Hackmate USB as a conflict
\- has a partition resize wizard for NTFS, ext4, and btrfs, so it can shrink a existing partition and leave unallocated space ready for the macOS installer
\- repair mode updates the EFI | 29 |
| 8 | Best method for SMBIOS ROM value?
Hey. I just got my account unblacklisted by apple and am wondering what's the best method for generating the ROM value in a SMBIOS? I've read conflicting guides that say you should enter the MAC address as the ROM value and some say to just generate a random one.
If it's the MAC address, should it be of the WiFi card you're using or the Ethernet adapter? Lastly, is there a definitive answer on whether Native Wi-Fi (Airportitlwm) with an intel AX210 will work with iServices or must it be HeliPort. I'm on Sequoia btw. Thanks in advance.

| 11 | HD4000/Ivy Bridge graphics drivers for Tahoe?
This past weekend i managed to clean install the latest Tahoe on my old workhorse (Lenovo W530 w. 32GB/3940xm) coming from a long time running Sequioia without basically any issues at all.
After booting up Tahoe on this machine, i went and searched for the various OCLP-plus, OCLP-mod, etc but it seems that neither of them supports HD4000 yet (if at all. I noticed some of them where basically put to an end).
Do anyone know if there are any plans at all (or other means) to inject HD4000 support into Tahoe?

| 12 | HELP NEEDED:
I have a Thinkpad, T450 i7 5600u with the basic intel hd 5500 graphics. I've been trying to install monterey from a while on it. I have tried everything I could. I tried building my own EFI from scratch and even tried using the new HACKMATE tool but it all leads to the same issue.
ISSUE: once I click on the installer from the default opencore menu for the first time to setup macos it gets stuck on that very screen with no verbos(text flying down the screen). Its stuck on that screen once I press enter after choosing the installer. However whenever I choose windows from the opencore menu windows loads perfectly so opencore/the menu isnt the problem.
I tried fixing my config.plist too to force the verbos on the screen so it could pin point the issue but that didnt work.
If anyone has any solution on this please help me out. Thx.

| 16 | Generating new SMBIOS from active SMBIOS
Hello,
I have a current SMBIOS that is using a possibly valid serial number with an active iCloud account.
Is it possible to generate a new SMBIOS with new serial number that is not in use/valid, and connect it to my iCloud account? If you have a video or written tutorial that you can share, I would appreciate the help.
Still learning about/experimenting with hackintoshing.
Thanks!

| 17 | would this be worth it?
Hey r/hackintosh community,
First off: **huge respect** for everything you've built. Hackintosh has been a lifeline for developers who couldn't afford Apple hardware but needed to build for iOS/macOS.
But let's be real: he writing is on the wall. Apple Silicon transition, stricter security, potential OpenCore limitations down the line we might not have Hackintosh as an option forever.
\### So I've been working on an alternative: **iOS emulation on Windows/Linux**
What's working now:
iOS 14 (Darwin 20.0.0) boots to root shell on Windows 10 via WSL2 + qemu-t8030
Checkpoint/restore system functional (ASR filesystem writes complete)
Core iOS services initialized (NVMe controller, power management, etc.)
Graphical framebuffer rendering staged (just need to drop `-v` boot arg)
Network rendering architecture for streaming UI to low-end laptops
**The stack:**
\- qemu-t8030 (Apple Silicon QEMU fork)
\- WSL2 for Linux subsystem on Windows
\- Custom scripts for restore/boot automation
Why this matters:
If Hackintosh becomes unavailable, developers in emerging markets (Philippines, Southeast Asia, etc.) will lose their only path to iOS development. Mac hardware is prohibitively expensive for most of us.
This emulation approach isn't meant to replace Hackintosh it's meant to complement it and provide a fallback option.
Current Limitations (Being Honest):
Graphical boot needs finalization (SpringBoard UI rendering)
️ Touch input not yet ported (working on it via rax/vphone-cli references)
Performance is slow on pure CPU (requires network rendering to AMD GPU servers for smooth UI)
No App Store access yet (working on IPA deployment)
️ iOS 14 only (newer versions need more RE work)
What I'm Asking From the Community:
1. Feedback: Does this approach make sense as a Hackintosh alternative?
2. Collaboration: Anyone interested in contributing to the emulation stack?
3. Testing: Would you test this if Hackintosh becomes unavailable?
4. Guidance: What iOS dev workflows are absolutely essential to preserve?
GitHub & Resources:
Next Milestones:
\- [ \] Graphical SpringBoard boot + UI interaction
\- [ \] Touch input via multitouch protocol
\- [ \] IPA deployment + app launch
\- [ \] Optimized network rendering for low-end laptops
\- [ \] Documentation for PH/SEA developers
TL;DR: Hackintosh might not last forever. I'm building an iOS 14 emulation path on Windows/Linux as a backup plan for developers who can't afford Mac hardware. Would love the community's thoughts, feedback, and collaboration.

| 18 | Hackmate v2.0.0 Release
# DONT SCROLL PAST THIS IF YOU NEED HELP!!!!
Starting off again, This isn't a beast tool or distro, it automates the Dortania guide steps using the same tools they recommend (macrecovery, SSDTTime, acidanthera kexts from GitHub releases). macOS comes directly from Apple. Nothing is patched or modified!
its grown a lot since my last post. biggest thing, its not linux only anymore.
# I'm building a tool called HackMate that automates the entire process of creating a bootable OpenCore hackintosh USB.
# whats new in v2.0:
\- windows support. full exe now, no python install needed. same hardware scan, same config.plist/SSDT generation, just packaged for windows too
\- added a GUI (tkinter) if you don't want to use the terminal version
\- dual boot support, it scans your disks, finds your other OSes, and can set OpenCore up to boot next to windows/linux instead of needing a dedicated usb every time
\- partition resize wizard, shrinks ntfs/ext4/btrfs in place so you don't need a separate tool to make room for macos
\- last post i said you still have to run USBToolBox yourself after. not anymore, it auto downloads it and walks you through port mapping in app
\- can inject your wifi creds into itlwm.kext so you're online during the installer itself, useful if you don't hav ethernet
\- SSDT generation now has a 3 tier fallback (SSDTTime, then a template, then a bundled precompiled one if SSDTTimejust cant do it). fixes some i2c trackpads that were silently failing before
\- EFI Health Check, fixes a few boot breaking bugs that could end up in generated EFIs from older versions
\- more hardware support now, 9th/14th/15th gen intel, better amd handling, igpu headless setups, cpuid spoofing for unsupported cpus
\- built in auto updater so you're not manually redownloading every release
also fixed some reliability stuff under the hood, ssl cert failures during the recovery download, download stalls with
zero feedback, and a windows ethernet detection bug where it could grab the wrong adapter
tested on my t480s (i5-8350U, UHD 620, ALC257, I219, intel 8265 wifi) plus a bunch of different laptops/desktops from people in the community reporting back in issues, ryzen boxes, different intel gens, different audio codecs and trackpads. thats basically how the hardware/kext database grew this much, people testing on stuff i don't own and telling me what broke
why its safe to run: its fully open source, every line is on github, nothing hidden. macOS itself comes straight from Apple's own servers through macrecovery, not from some mirror. the kexts come straight from acidanthera's official GitHub releases, same binaries the Dortania guide itself points you to. nothing gets patched, cracked, or modified, it just automates typing the same commands you'd type by hand following the guide. no telemetry, no accounts, no analytics phoning home, its just a script
right now its at 98 stars, 14 forks, 4 people who've contributed code, and about 1200 exe downloads plus way more from people cloning/running it straight from source. had close to 650 unique people pull the repo in just the last two weeks. 8 open issues right now which is mostly just people asking hardware specific stuff, not it being broken
would love feedback from anyone with different hardware, especially windows users now that its actually supported there, and anyone trying dual boot since thats the newest and least tested part
