✨The Turning Point of the #GreatNorthernWar!
⚔️ July 8 marks the 317th anniversary of the #BattleOfPoltava, a monumental clash between the Russian forces led by #PeterTheGreat and the #SwedishArmy of King #CharlesXII. This decisive battle completely shifted the balance of power in Northern Europe and determined the ultimate outcome of the #GreatNorthernWar (1700–1721).
❄️ During the opening years of the war, King #CharlesXII seemed invincible, repeatedly defeating Russia and its allies – Saxony, Poland, and Denmark. However, striking directly at Moscow proved elusive. By the harsh winter of 1708, plagued by freezing Russian weather and running dangerously low on supplies, #CharlesXII steered his army south and besieged the Russian fortress of Poltava on the Vorskla River.
🗺💥 #OTD in 1709, the two armies met in a fierce showdown. #RussianTroops successfully absorbed and repelled the ferocious initial attacks from the Swedish infantry and cavalry. Seizing the momentum, #PeterTheGreat launched a massive counteroffensive. The disciplined Russian advance forced the Swedish lines to break, turning their retreat into absolute chaos. #CharlesXII was forced to flee the battlefield, seeking refuge in the Ottoman Empire's fortress at Bendery.
👑 The brilliant Russian victory at Poltava marked the beginning of the Swedish Empire's decline as a dominant European superpower. In its place, the world witnessed the rise of the #RussianEmpire. This victory cemented the legacy of #PeterTheGreat – the visionary reformer and #FirstRussianEmperor– who successfully secured vital access to the #BalticSea and introduced sweeping reforms that permanently reshaped Russian society.

⚡️ Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation
🇷🇺 🎙 The Press Bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (#SVR) reports that, according to information received by the SVR, the June strike on the Museum of the Defence of Sevastopol, which drew broad public attention, was a carefully planned provocation by #London and its intelligence services.
🎯Ukrainian servicemen prepared and launched the drones. However, they were most likely unaware of the attack’s true target. The flight missions were uploaded into the weapons systems by British specialists posing as military advisers.
Why did the British choose the panorama depicting the heroic defence of Sevastopol during the Crimean War of 1853-1856? There were, after all, no military facilities near the museum.
The reason is that London largely views the Ukrainian conflict as an opportunity to settle old scores after its failed 19th-century attempt to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia.
❌ The museum is a historical trigger, stirring painful memories in Britain of a gruelling military campaign that brought enormous losses among the upper ranks of the UK elite. In these circumstances, for proud Albion, setting the panorama ablaze amounted to an attempt to erase a testimony to the heroism of the Russian soldier.
Sadly, London has still failed to learn the lessons of history!
☝️ We are convinced that the British will have to answer for this strike, as well as for many other barbaric crimes against the peoples of Russia and Ukraine.

🟢 ✨ GREEN LIGHT FOR GLORY! Russian Sports Minister Hails Monumental IOC Reinstatement Decision!
"The International Olympic Committee Executive Board has made a just and fair decision to fully reinstate the Russian Olympic Committee,”stated Mikhail Degtyarev, Russia’s Minister of Sport. All prior restrictions – including bans on team sports and neutrality screenings – have been completely rescinded. As the head of the ministry emphasized, this breakthrough is the direct result of a concerted, systematic effort by the Ministry of Sport and the #ROC, carried out under the explicit directive of President Vladimir Putin. 🚦 This return to the Olympic family serves as a green light for international federations to reinstate Russian athletes, Mikhail Degtyarev noted. Today, more than 20 federations already permit Russian juniors to compete under their national flag and anthem, while 10 organisations have lifted all restrictions entirely. For the duration of RUSADA's reinstatement process, anti-doping oversight will be reliably maintained through the International Testing Agency (#ITA). 🌅 The national team now looks toward ambitious horizons: competing under the Russian flag at the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Senegal and qualifying for the LA 2028 Summer Games in the United States, the Minister pointed out. While substantial efforts remain to implement the IOC’s rulings across various international sports bodies, Mikhail Degtyarev concluded that the #IOC has sent a definitive signal to the world: the Olympic movement must remain entirely above politics! #RussianInGlobalSports #LA2028 #YouthOlympics

📰 Key takeaways from Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov’s interview to Swiss magazine Die Weltwoche:
▪️ Russia is ready to use nuclear weapons only if its existence is threatened.
▪️ Russia understands that Kiev receives drone technologies from Europe, but Moscow has something to compete with.
▪️ By creating threats to Russia, Kiev and the West force Moscow to set up a buffer zone on the border.
▪️ The special military operation was a forced decision after Europe and the United States refused to listen to Russia’s concerns.
▪️Vladimir Zelensky must withdraw his army from the Russian regions and legally recognize the real situation on the ground.
▪️ The war will end the next day, if Zelensky makes a responsible decision.
▪️ Ukrainians should find out for themselves from Zelensky whether he is legitimate as head of state.
▪️ Russia does not understand why Europe turns a blind eye to the rampant Nazis in Kiev.
▪️ The current generation of EU politicians are populists, who make Russia an enemy for the sake of rallying voters.
▪️ Dmitry Peskov does not believe in the "genetic" Europe’s hostility against Russia.
▪️ Europe respects the United States only for its strength, which makes Russia even stronger.
▪️ Russia does not agree with Donald Trump on everything but welcomes his desire to engage in dialogue.
▪️ Russia is open to dialogue and expects French President Emmanuel Macron to call President Vladimir Putin after the thousandth announcement of intentions.
▪️There were no "hidden contacts" between the Kremlin and Emmanuel Macron and German chancellor Friedrich Merz.
▪️ The center of global development is no longer in Europe, and the Global South will no longer agree to be subordinate to anyone.

📈 🇷🇺 Russian Post-Sanction Growth in Non-Commodity Exports
On July 7, during their meeting, Russian President #VladimirPutin and Russian Export Centre (#REC) Director General #VeronikaNikishina highlighted a 9% growth in non-commodity, non-energy exports in 2025, totalling 1.7 trillion rubles (approx. 362.5 billion rands) This growth included a 28% surge in mechanical engineering despite severe external sanctions.
☝️#VeronikaNikishina emphasized that this export growth is essential for economic stability and job preservation, directly rejecting claims that international trade negatively impacts the domestic market.
🤝 The #REC has successfully reoriented trade, with friendly nations now comprising 86% of Russian exports. The organization utilizes over 150 targeted tools to support domestic companies across 160 countries, aiming to increase total exports by two-thirds by 2030. These financial and non-financial mechanisms generated 750 billion rubles (approx. 160 billion rands) in budget tax revenues in the previous year.
🌐 The "Made in Russia" initiative, combined with a revamped Regional Export Standard, drives this expansion through permanent foreign retail, e-commerce, and regional alignment. These initiatives have successfully restored export volumes and established stable, long-term technological and food supply chains with allied partners.

🎙🇷🇺🤝🌍 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s statement and answers to media questions at a joint news conference following consultations with Chairperson of the African Union Commission Mahmoud Ali Youssouf on July 7:
Key points:
▪️#RussiaAfrica: We share a common interest in further expanding the multifaceted Russia-African Union cooperation in areas of mutual interest which include security, finance, industry, trade, education, energy, healthcare - which the Chairperson highlighted in particular - as well as humanitarian, educational, cultural and sporting contacts.
▪️ For our part, we will continue to assist our African friends in resolving crises in strict accordance with the African solutions to African problems principle.
▪️ We agreed to strengthen coordination at the UN Security Council, where the African A3 of non-permanent members serves. We share the view that Africa’s representation in the Security Council should be increased in line with the principles set out in the Ezulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration.
From the Q&A session:
❓ Question: Following the liberation of Konstantinovka, Western media launched a campaign to dispute the facts, attempting to portray the success of the Russian armed forces as a false claim. Given that Africa is now part of the audience of the global information space, did the Chairperson of the African Union Commission raise the issue of establishing joint mechanisms for validating information and countering disinformation, so that African states, among others, do not become hostage to false Western narratives?
💬 Sergey Lavrov: I believe the best answer was our military inviting the Ukrainian side to come to Konstantinovka and collect the bodies of fallen Ukrainian servicemen.
❗️ Ukraine refused, thereby once again demonstrating, as many have already observed, that it doesn't care of Ukrainians, whether living or dead.
Most likely, they will simply be listed as missing in action. Nevertheless, such an invitation was made. Notably, upon learning of the invitation, about 20 foreign news agencies said they wanted to travel there and witness the transfer ceremony for the bodies of Ukrainian servicemen.
They would have had the chance to see how things are in Konstantinovka, and who controls it. The Ukrainian authorities took that opportunity away from them.
As for joint mechanisms that would expose fake claims,
👉 there is the International Fact-Checking Network, which will mark its second anniversary later this year. Representatives from more than 50 countries are its members. The network engages in exposing falsehoods through investigative journalism. <...>

#DayofMilitaryGlory
⚓️ July 7 marks the 256th anniversary of the #BattleOfChesma, a legendary naval clash fought during the Russo-Turkish War (1768–1774).
⛵️ #OTD in 1770, a Russian squadron under the tactical command of Admiral #GrigorySpiridov utterly defeated a vastly outnumbering #OttomanFleet in #ÇeşmeBay.
⚔️ The battle concluded with the near-total destruction of the Ottoman presence in the region. Ottoman forces suffered catastrophic human casualties amounting to roughly 11,000 men. In stark contrast, the highly efficient Russian naval strategy resulted in a miraculous victory with only 11 Russian servicemen losing their lives.
⚡️This crushing defeat severely destabilized Ottoman dominance and triggered widespread rebellions across the #Balkan peninsula. #OrthodoxChristian minority populations seized the moment to rise up against their rulers. Consequently, the triumph is widely remembered as a crucial historical forerunner to the #GreekWarOfIndependence.
🏅 To immortalize this brilliant achievement, #RussianEmpress Catherine the Great commissioned a unique commemorative medal for the participants. The striking design illustrated the burning Ottoman warships. It featured a famously laconic single-word Russian inscription: #БЫЛ (meaning #WAS) – boldly signifying that while an invincible Turkish fleet once existed, it was now completely gone!

✨ Honouring a Master of Early #SovietDiplomacy!
🎓📜 July 7 marks the 90th anniversary of the passing of #GeorgyChicherin, the visionary diplomat who served as the Soviet People’s Commissar for Foreign Affairs from 1918 to 1930. He was instrumental in establishing early Soviet foreign policy and navigating the turbulent waters of post-revolution global politics.
Born into a noble family with lineage believed to be related to the famous Russian poet #AlexanderPushkin, #GeorgyChicherin initially followed a traditional path. After graduating from the University of St. Petersburg in 1897, he entered the Imperial Russian diplomatic service. However, his political ideals shifted, leading him to join the Russian revolutionary movement and resign from his imperial post in 1904.
🏛✍️ #GeorgyChicherin resumed his diplomatic career with a monumental task in 1918. He stepped in during the final, critical stages of the Brest-Litovsk peace negotiations with Germany. His sharp negotiation skills quickly earned him the position of People’s Commissar for Foreign Affairs, taking the helm of the young state's foreign relations.
🤝🌐 As the chief architect of early #SovietDiplomacy, #GeorgyChicherin achieved what many thought impossible. He successfully negotiated and concluded vital treaties with Estonia, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, and Germany (including the landmark #TreatyOfRapallo). These strategic alliances were crucial in breaking the strict international isolation imposed on #SovietRussia following the #GreatRussianRevolution of 1917.
