October has been the most eventful month of the year with cyber security reports. It's the era of cyber security people. Some of the incidents are - Open code got hacked - Linux got it's legendary vulnerability that is by Ethiopian hacker. It even got a special cve number. - Php got owned with 2 critical vulnerability - railway got hacked and they are down straight almost 20 hour - LiteLLM - malicious PyPI + Docker releases - and sooo many medium to high like liteLLM vul

PHP 😭 got owned! I feel so bad honestly

Your internet might be slow because of DNS, not bandwidth. I tested DNS from home fiber and a Telecloud VPS in Addis, and the results were wild. 👀 • Telecloud's default DNS servers timed out. • Google DNS (`8.8.8.8`) had high latency to many services. • Cloudflare (`1.1.1.1`) delivered responses in just 4–7 ms for several tested services. Using a Telecloud VPS? Try switching to Cloudflare DNS:

sudo mkdir -p /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/
sudo tee /etc/systemd/resolved.conf.d/dns.conf <<EOF
[Resolve]
DNS=1.1.1.1 1.0.0.1
FallbackDNS=9.9.9.9
EOF
sudo systemctl restart systemd-resolved
Your mileage may vary, but fixing DNS can make a noticeable difference. Bandwidth affects how much data you move. DNS affects how quickly connections get started.

Ow man there is nothing like Claude honestly. I couldn't reliably use chatgpt. Always good to be back home 😁😁😁

Did you know you can use Ethio Telecom Telecloud’s object storage with the AWS CLI or Python’s boto3? Here’s a small upload example using our AA2 endpoint. After configuring your Telecloud access keys in an AWS CLI profile called telecloud:

export AWS_REQUEST_CHECKSUM_CALCULATION=when_required
export AWS_RESPONSE_CHECKSUM_VALIDATION=when_required

aws s3 cp ./hello.txt s3://YOUR_BUCKET/hello.txt \
  --profile telecloud \
  --endpoint-url https://obsv3.et-global-3.ethiotelecom.et \
  --region et-global-3
Those checksum settings helped us resolve an upload compatibility error. Check your bucket’s endpoint if you use another region. We’ve written a practical guide based on moving a production application to Telecloud: the two login portals, Chrome password confusion, creating a VPC and subnet before your VPS, networking, backups, and how AI agents helped us through the setup. Hopefully it saves you some of the trial and error we went through 🙂 [Read the Telecloud field guide](https://snapwre.com/blog/ethio-telecom-telecloud-guide)

Introducing DomainPulse One search. A clear picture of any domain. What you get • WHOIS: registrar, expiry date, and transfer locks • DNS: where it points, where its email goes, and the services in its records • Hosting: the IP and the network behind it • SSL: is the certificate valid and when does it expire • HTTP: security headers in a clean dev-style viewer • Ports: which common ports are open • Exposure Score: flags subdomain names that may reveal internal systems • Health Grade (A–F): with suggested fixes • Threat Check: known malware, phishing, and abuse reports • PDF report by email + JSON export How is it different from a WHOIS lookup? WHOIS shows who a domain is registered with. DomainPulse puts registration, DNS, security, and threat data in one place, then grades it and suggests what to fix. Works with many African domains too, including .et. Public data only. Still early, so feedback is very welcome.🙌 domainpulse.snapwre.com
