La retirada temporal de "The Camp of the Saints" por parte de Amazon es una señal sobre quién controla hoy el acceso a la información. La plataforma eliminó el libro alegando “contenido ofensivo”, pues la novela distópica de 1973 por Jean Raspail, narra la invasión pacífica de Francia y Europa. Describe el colapso de la civilización occidental debido a su propia parálisis, culpa y sentimentalismo, entregándose dócilmente a la desaparición demográfica.
Se considera que es una especie de "biblia" para los seguidores del movimiento MAGA por cierto...
Aunque días después, Amazon lo restauró, el problema no es el libro, sino el precedente. Cuando una empresa con enorme poder de distribución puede decidir qué se vende o desaparece, la libertad de acceso queda subordinada a algoritmos y decisiones internas sin supervisión.
Y ojo, esto no debe ir si te gusta lo que dice el libro. Esta dinámica no solo afecta a autores, sino también a los lectores, cuya capacidad de elección se filtra sin que lo perciban.
Hoy puede ser este libro, mañana puede ser otro que vaya por un camino diametralmente diferente. No es ideología, es libertad de elección. Pues más allá de la censura puntual, el verdadero riesgo es estructural: una infraestructura digital donde la privacidad intelectual, qué lees, qué buscas, queda expuesta y condicionada por actores privados con intereses cambiantes.
