“You will realize that there is a very thin line between being brave and being stupid.” Calvin said.
Eventually, they stopped on top of a rocky outcrop somewhere deep in the park. From there, they could see everywhere around them.
Everyone came out despite the warnings that no one was supposed to get out of their safari vehicles. Being that there were 2 KWS rangers with them, they felt safe already.
Many got busy taking photos and videos. Nelly changed into some other clothes and enjoyed taking photos with everyone. She even went on to take photos with the two rangers who seemed so eager to take photos with the visitors.
However, with dark clouds gathering from a distance, the guides with them said that they were supposed to turn around. However a report came to them to wait since there was a flash flood heading their way and it was going straight through the route they came through, and they were now so deep inside the park.
“Sounds like we will spend a night here.” Bill said after getting the report from the rangers. He sounded worried.

“Elephants don’t jump. Marcus lied to you.” Nelly told Elena as they began their drive around the park following other Safari vehicles.
Elena looked at Marcus and said, “I also thought you are lying. I mean, how can such a large animal jump so high?”

“ I hate how they told us not to get off the vehicles. I mean, the animals are so far away and seem unbothered.” Bill said.
“I did rather stick to the rules.” Tinah said.
“Rules are meant to be broken.” Nelly said and then added, “Driver, stop, I want to pee.”
“Don’t stop!” Tinah said.
“I will pee inside here.” Nelly threatened.
“Go ahead.” Tinah said.
As they went, they saw two lions fighting, with the bigger one looking like it was out to kill the smaller one. The two vehicles ahead of them stopped. Multiple people got to their heads out on the upper opening to see the fight better. Some began taking photos and recording videos.
Nelly unlocked the door but Bill quickly closed it and said, “Don’t take such risks. These animals are unpredictable.”
Suddenly, one lion ran towards the car. Everyone got their heads inside.
Suddenly, the lion that had been running away circled the vehicles and then without a warning, it jumped on top of their van. The while van shook violently. The girls screamed but the guys held the girl’s mouths and told them, “Shhh! It can’t get inside!”
The sudden fear made Nelly to suddenly urinate totally unable to control it. “Go away!” she shouted almost in tears.
The lion then roared a little, moved around the top of the vehicle and then it jumped and ran off into the fields with the other lion going after it.
“Territorial disputes.” Bill said, “Maybe the one running away wants to take this other lion’s territory.”
When everyone realized what Nelly just did, they all laughed except Guuleed whose focus was on the other vehicles that were beginning to drive slowly. “What a morning!” He said, “I almost reached for my gun!”
“I hate this place!” Nelly said. She wasn’t even pressed but still urinated a lot from the sudden fear.
“And you wanted to go outside, you would be dead by now.” Bill said.
The drive continued deeper into the park where they saw many other animals. They also came across two people that were walking just holding spears and Calvin said, “These might be ghosts, otherwise, how comes the animals are not attacking them?”
“Maasai.” Marcus said, “They live with these animals and nothing ever happens to them.”
“I once went to Nyahururu, saw two Maasai men only to realize that they were Kikuyus pretending to be Maasai.” Tinah said while sliding a window open to look outside.
“You think it is dangerous out here, imagine the KWS rangers who work here.” Marcus said.
“They have guns. Give me a gun and I will cross this park on foot.” Bill said.
“Don’t be too confident.” Guuleed said, “These animals are dangerous, even with a gun, you are not 100% safe, like, for example, if you shoot a lion and miss, it will kill you before you get another shot. It is worse if you wounds it and it is coming for you. It will tear you to pieces within seconds.”
“Even with grenades, I will never want to be here.” Calvin said.
“Are you saying that you are a coward?” Tinah asked.

“Elephants are huge, adult males range from 4,500 kg to 7,000 kg. In fact, there are stories of an elephant that got to be 12,000 kg.” Marcus said.

“It is true, the elephant’s name was Henry, it was shot and killed in Angola in 1955.” Bill said.
“And that is the documented size, otherwise, there could be larger elephants out there.” Calvin said.
“No wonder elephants easily kill human beings without even trying. Just stepping on you and it crushes you to death.” Bill said.
As they were talking, they saw an elephant from a distance launching a buffalo high in the air to around 3 meters high. The buffalo landed down hard on its back, rolled as the elephant charged, got up and ran off with the elephant turning to look at it as if it wanted to run for it.
“Wow! Did you just see that?” Bill asked.
Everyone was speechless. The girls held onto their boyfriends tighter and Elena even told Marcus with a trembling voice, “Let us go, what if it comes to us? What if it jumps to where we are?”
Marcus smiled at how ridiculous the question was and then jokingly said, “By the way, elephants can jump 6 meters high!”

“I am sorry, we won’t be going with you guys.” Ashley told them as they were about to leave. Her boyfriend had suspected something but had no evidence.
Guuleed sat in the car waiting. Their next destination was Voi where they expected to stay for a few days in Tsavo National park, camping.
“It is ok, we are going to Tsavo, we shall first stop in Voi and then later get into the park to camp, if you wish, you can still get us there.” Bill told Ashley.
As Guuleed drove out of there, Calvin whispered to Bill, “I am the only one who did not chew Ashley, too bad.”
“Unlucky.” Bill said with a smile.

“Who knew that Voi can be hotter than Malindi?” Bill asked as they stopped at a petrol station to refuel and continue to Voi Wildlife lodge where they were to spend the night.
“I could not imagine.” Nelly said.
Guuleed smiled and said, “Perhaps it is you people who are on heat, it is not as hot here.”
“You are comparing this place to North Eastern perhaps.” Nelly said.
“True.” Guuleed said.
They bought a few more items at the supermarket that was at the petrol station and then headed for Voi Wildlife lodge.

“41,000 per room, eh!” Nelly said when Bill told her the much they shall be spending for a room.
“Yes, the driver is willing to sleep in the car. We can allow him to sleep on the bed.” Bill said.
“These places get so much money.” Nelly said.
“Don’t worry, I am catering for everything. The road trip was my idea.” Bill said. He went ahead and booked three rooms.
They all got to their rooms and changed into some other clothes. They then gave their dirty clothes to someone who was going to do laundry for them and charge them accordingly. They also footed the cost for the driver too.
Shortly after, they went to the pool which was empty a true sign of it being a low season for tourism. But that only made it more enjoyable as they swam alone without any distractions. Guuleed also joined them in the pool.
Bill being the best swimmer among them enjoyed showing off to everyone until Calvin said, “I envy you, Bill, I wish I can swim like you.”
“Learn with time.” Bill said.
Guuleed stayed where his feet could feel the bottom.
After swimming for a while, they all went to the observation deck where they saw some elephants coming so close to the lodge as if they were coming to say hi to the people around. It was also possible to see the elephants from the pool but it was better from that point as they were closer.
Calvin made as if to push Tinah towards the elephants causing her to scream before saying, “You want me to get a heart attack, huh!”
“I feel like riding one of these.” Marcus said.
“These are not Indian elephants, these ones will kill you in seconds.” Bill told Marcus.
“I have never seen an elephant this close.” Elena said, “Thanks to this road trip, I can now describe how an elephant is. I used to think it is slightly bigger than a cow, little did I know that it is almost 10 times bigger than a cow!”
