APPLICATIONS FOR U2F2 ADMIN OPENS TOMORROW
The U2F2 admin team is looking for a new admin as Delta's term ends at the end of September. We will be opening up an application process for those who are qualified to take on the responsibility of running this community. The new admin will run on a 2-year term (October 2026 - October 2028), and will work closely with Skye & Snargle to help run the group.
—————————
WHAT DOES AN ADMIN DO?
- Create and organize events and use our social media platforms (Telegram, and U2F2 website) to post and publicize events.
- Attend and run U2F2 created events.
- Post and publicize the events submitted by other members.
- Planning and discussing locations for events and contacting said locations to set up these events, if necessary.
- Monitor and maintain U2F2-related Telegram chats; this includes accepting new members, informing members of U2F2’s guidelines and making sure these rules are being followed.
- Settling disputes between members that arise at U2F2 events or on any official U2F2 social media pages, and assisting with resolutions.
- Posting updates on events and other important information going on in the community.
COMMUNITY LEADER NECESSITIES
- You must be in good standing with U2F2 and have not been banned or received official warnings from the admins in the last 6 months.
- Community leaders should have read and be familiar with the U2F2 Rules and Guidelines.
- It’s expected that community organizers attend the majority of U2F2 events.
- You must have your own reliable form of transportation.
- You must have a proactive, self-starting attitude and willingness to jump in and start projects and ideas.
- You must be financially responsible for meets and sometimes pay out of pocket for venues and supplies.
- You must be a member or willing to become a member of ALL U2F2 community groups, including our Telegram Channels and groups, and other social media platforms.
- You may need to be legally responsible and willing to occasionally cooperate with law enforcement.
- You must be level-headed and able to avoid drama to mediate community disputes. Adminship is NOT a platform for people to gain power so they can control the community experience of others.
Remember, being an admin is a completely volunteer position; none of us are getting paid to do this. Being an admin involves creating and running events and pages as the primary role, and keeping order as the secondary role. We are organizers who are here to serve the community. We also want to stress that the adminship is NOT a popularity contest. There are duties involved with being an event organizer for this group, and it is expected that as admins, we put in the time and effort necessary to make U2F2, as a participatory group, a worthwhile experience for all members.
—————————
APPLICATION SCHEDULE
Sept. 1 - Sept. 10: Initial applications can be submitted through the U2F2 email box. This email address will be provided on the day along with everything we will need in the application. It will include answers to some basic questions we will provide about name, pronouns, time commitment, and transportation; then a brief 1-2 paragraph description of reasons for wanting to become admin and what you think you can provide, similar to a cover letter.
Sept. 11 - Sept. 20: Once applications close on the night of the 10th, we will send all qualifying candidates a list of in-depth questions which should be answered thoroughly with at least a few sentences in each answer. Candidates will have till the night of September 20th to submit their answers.
Sept. 21 - Sept. 30: After questions have been received, the current admin team will review and come to a decision on who the next admin will be. We will send out an email afterwards letting all candidates know of our decision, and let the new chosen admin that they have been selected. We will make an announcement as soon as possible and the new admin will begin their term on October 1st.
Any questions about this process can be asked in the comments or to the U2F2 team on telegram.
We, the admins of U2F2, need to address an issue that has been starting to make repeated appearances at various U2F2 events throughout this year, specifically:
-revving engines
-making excessive noise
-and generally being irresponsible with vehicles.
Meets such as the bonfires or the potlucks are not the time OR the place for that. They are not designated as a car meets. Even outside of U2F2, in the local car communities, the reputable car meets around have also made rules against the same issues we are starting to see at our events. We do enjoy seeing all the unique cars that attend these particular U2F2 events, and we know that many of them do have a lot of customizations.
Particularly with the monthly "bonfire" meets, we want to make it clear that we hold these meets far up in the canyon specifically so we all can get away for the evening, enjoy each other’s company, relax, and listen to the sounds of nature around us. We also need to be respectful of everyone else staying at the campgrounds around us. Attendees at the other sites are there likely for the exact same reason, to have a peaceful evening, and they should not have their experience disrupted because of our group.
Section 3.3 of our communities Rules & Guidelines states, "As members of U2F2, individuals are expected to represent the group and the broader furry community positively. Whether on social media or at events, members should conduct themselves respectfully toward the general public, event venues, business owners, and others to promote a welcoming and respectful image of the community."
We ask the community to take some time and review the communities Rules & Guidelines found on our website utahfurs.org. This is also about protecting our ability to continue using this site. We want U2F2 to be able to return here month after month and year after year. We have heard many from our community express that they really enjoy this new site. If U2F2 develops a reputation for being loud or disruptive, we risk losing the privilege of coming back, as well as reputation preceding us and losing places to host one of the biggest events we hold throughout the year.
So, with that said, Please do not rev your engines and intentionally make unnecessary noise. Having fun is absolutely encouraged, but there is a time and place for revving engines and making noise, and this isn't it.
Let's not ruin a good thing for everyone.
-The U2F2 admins
