UPSC 📚 and love. 💗 Are these two parallel lines that can never meet? Or are they convergent lines ? A lot of you often go through or might be going through this confusion. Enough content is there on social media about this topic already. However, I felt the urgency to write this because I saw many of you have personally confided in me about not being able to focus on studies because XYZ person isn't replying back to your texts or isn't reciprocating. I get the pain of it. The pain of not being able to enjoy the beautiful moments of longing and passion because "Hey! Wake up! You are a UPSC aspirant" keeps ringing in your ears. I am not a love guru or a philosopher, but I felt that addressing the matter ASAP is important, because you still have 3 months ahead of you!! 1. Relationships should aid your well being and give you a sense of relief. If by the end of your 10-12 hours sitting, all that the other person has to offer you is "kalesh" and fights, then maybe it's time to rethink it. 2. The dopamine rush of coming to Delhi and exploring the new found freedom of movement and mingling with others is understandable. However, be very clear about how much time in a day you want to devote to your personal life. 2 hours? 3 hours? Create that boundary. 3. I personally believe that relationships and friendships (the real ones) can run on their own and very effortlessly. My best friendships have been very low maintenance ones, and hence they are best. *Your relationship should not suck the life out of you.* It should not be demanding too many efforts, at least until your selection. You should be fine going on a normal date at Haldiram and Nathu sweets and then come back, go to sleep and get ready for the library next day. 4. The UPSC cycle is too brutal. Relationship building takes time, yet can you run the relationship building and UPSC cycle together? That's the question you should ask yourself. If the answer is ambiguous, you need to rethink your choice. I personally believe that the most stable and best relationships build once we age. You all can differ on this, but as we age and turn 25, we grow into more stable humans, more secure in ourselves and confident. There's no right time for anything, yes. But since you all are time bound, and love is a gamble, (so is UPSC), you can take a pause and see if you are the right stage in your life to love someone. Love after all is a great investment (so is UPSC). Thanks for reading.

My caution to young aspirants: Don't fall in the trap of talking to random strangers on telegram. This is not the most trustworthy platform for developing emotional bonds. I see aspirants in their 1st and 2nd attempt engaging with strangers on telegram groups. Ultimately it's your choice, but this platform can be used for resources gathering etc, but not for seeking genuine friends or support. Make your peer group via friends you have met, in your coaching etc whose nature you fully understand and resonate with. Thanks, this is not to create fear but a random thought that came to my mind. Half of the people on telegram don't even use their real name, use pseudo IDs, anonymity to diss on others, honey trap poor kids. So please exercise caution. Anonymity is bane over here. I belong to the old school of thought dear students 🙏 so don't mind.
