There are two basic ideas that she also applies to humans based on the knowledge of living things, the idea of ​​species connection and the principle of struggle: every being is determined by its genetic material, and every being must assert itself in the world. This results in two demands for us: recognition of the people as the highest value and the fighting spirit as a moral attitude. Victories by arms can only be lasting when the triumph of the blessing of children precedes and follows them. The eternal validity of this biological constitution of the life of peoples was recognized anew by National Socialism. A similar law exerts its influence in the world of spiritual powers. New historical worlds, which in their growth are always rooted simultaneously in things of both a vital, power-based, and a spiritual nature, can never be organized by mechanical means. They must develop organically, and not a single part of this development may be skipped if the whole is to be inwardly solid, fruitful, and lasting later on. If one wishes to form a picture of the future of Europe and of the world, it is therefore not sufficient to map out new borders and rely on the decisive blows of mighty armies. One must face the storm; however, one must also continue to observe closely what grows in silence. One of the greatest upheavals of our time, decisive for the future fate of the entire world and of a significance that surpasses every other event, is the rebirth of the Northern, the Germanic Europe. For thousands of years, Northern blood has imprinted the stamp of its essential law upon the world. In the last few decades, it seemed to have exhausted its strength. It would go too far to enumerate here the causes of this incipient decline. However, no one doubts the fact itself. And now, literally at the very last moment, the guardian spirit of the race has brought about the turning point from unfathomable, long-hidden depths of blood and spirit. From the German people, who suffered most terribly under this crisis, the healing emanated. And at a furiously rapid pace, following the inner healing, it also exerted its influence outwardly. The Task Germany, the realm of the European center, the people who consciously found their way back to the origin of their being, their blood, understood and overcame in a mighty charge every seemingly invincible opposition that stood in the way of their freedom. At the same time, however—and this is the greatness of our time—one became aware, rising above the fate of one’s own people, of one’s global task and set oneself to accomplishing it: the salvation of Europe, the unification and activation of the North, the Germanic blood. Not only the fate of our continent, but the fate of the entire world, of culture, of all values ​​of a higher order, depends on whether the formation of the Germanic community of destiny succeeds or not. The decision regarding this, however, is not made by the sword alone. 1. The Land Service of the Hitler Youth is — judging by its method of upbringing and objectives — exceptionally suitable as a 'Nachwuchsorganisatie' (re-procurement organization) for the Schutzstaffel (Algemeene SS and its armed units: SS-Verfügungstruppen and SS-Totenkopfstandarten). 2. Boys who meet the special requirements of the SS regarding physical condition and character attitude are admitted into the Land Service of the Hitler Youth with preference over others. 3. Above all, those boys who have the firm will to become farmers on their own land (re-farmer) will be admitted into the Land Service. This 're-farmer' ideal will be cultivated in the Land Service by the Hitler Youth and the SS in particular. 4. Those belonging to the Land Service and serving in the armed units of the Schutzstaffel shall, upon completion of their service, be deployed by the Reichsführer-SS, in cooperation with the relevant offices of the Reichsbauernführer, to a farm on newly reclaimed land. Deployment shall take place continuously as these farms become available. It shall preferably take place in those regions where Germany requires farmers who have received special training. 5. All those belonging to the Land Service who meet the admission requirements of the SS shall, upon leaving the Land Service, be admitted into the General SS. 6. The implementing regulations shall be issued by the Head of the Soziale Amt as representative of the Reichsjugendführung in cooperation with the Head of the SS-Hauptamt as representative of the SS and with the Head of the Rasse- und Siedlungs-Hauptamt-SS for issues relating to the settlers and settlement in the countryside.

Throughout the centuries of Germany’s sorrowful history, the yearning of the best and noblest Germans for a Reich, for a true German reality, shines forth. And German history is replete with instances of indignation, uprising, reform, and Reformation; yet there is one example we do not find in the entirety of German history to date: the example of revolution! We have indeed had revolutionary thinkers and scholars, statesmen, peasant leaders, kings, and soldiers; but revolution requires more than just a great leader. It requires men and women who offer their allegiance, who allow themselves to be swept up by the leader’s vision into decisive action; it requires a people who dare to take the great leap. We Germans are not a people of revolution! The reason for this lies in the fact that, throughout the centuries, we were not merely a nation of peasants, there are certainly revolutionary peasant peoples, and land ownership is by no means a prerequisite for a conservative mindset; this fundamental misconception, too, must finally be dispelled. Nor is our people’s mindset by any means docile; rather, we were a people so incredibly and unprecedentedly fragmented, both geographically and, above all, in spirit, that a unified German image had to be forged from this mosaic only through arduous struggles. Thus, we were preserved for our revolution, one that is destined to be the most modern and comprehensive of all. Destined to be! For we still stand at the beginning of the process of becoming a Reich, the ultimate goal of our revolution, and it is not yet possible to foresee when that revolution will reach its conclusion. But what, after all, is revolution? We have first defined what it is not: it must not be confused with its outward manifestations, with coups and uprisings! Literally, revolution means a turning over. Let us dwell on this word for a moment. A raft, for instance, that is overloaded capsizes. In a revolution, the encrustations that have formed over centuries, alien to the people and hostile to their nature, are shattered, laying bare the primal substance of the people. [...] The German soldier, who experienced his revolutionary transformation in battle, no longer saw in his new worldview the narrow, highly arbitrary, and therefore by no means permanent borders of states, but learned to recognize the world as a sum of races and peoples who, more or less consciously, more or less bravely, more or less cleverly, fought for justice, freedom, space, and life. This realization did not shake him. At most, it led him, as a consequence, to throw overboard the "doctrines of love" and "religions" that had hitherto acted as a psychological burden because they obscured the reality of the struggle and attempted to deceive and theorize away the reality of life. The soldier took his own stand. That was his revolution! Penetrating the essence of things freed the German from the illusions that had hitherto confused him. His world was thereby "disenchanted"—and only obscurantists who had previously lived off this magic could regret this—but it became honest and truthful. If you ask a soldier about the meaning of fighting, if he is a conscious warrior, he will never speak merely of defending, say, "throne and altar," but will say that he bears arms for the development of his people, for the right of his nation to exist, for the order of his race. And with that, he has found his standard. He no longer knows "goodness" as such. He also knows no "deed in itself." Everything for him is purposeful in relation to his people. A valuable person is one who makes their value useful in and for their people. Whoever carries their value into the desert is a traitor! A simple morality? Yes! But an honest one! Only anonymous powers have an interest in a different morality.

True freedom does not mean rootless boundlessness; no, this is what the Nordic people call the permission to be a creator, this sacred calling thus contains within it mastery over life and matter! And this wonderful opportunity for the highest humanity has been, if not taken from us, then certainly excessively curtailed. Our people have always produced a surplus of adventurers and world travelers, daring and audacious fellows who feared neither death nor the devil. Admittedly, one must exercise the utmost precision for this, but anyone who has ever experienced an inspection conducted by a German non-commissioned officer knows all about this precision, which takes notice of every speck of dust on the barrel of the rifle in order to withhold Sunday leave from someone. To perform deeds in the belief in things that stand above life and death, to learn to force oneself into action—that is part of that “other.” The second, however, is life without a mask. All posing, all pretense fell away, and only the naked man remained; either a brave and good comrade, or a piece of misery. Here one could play the brave neither with sleight of hand nor with bravado, while only fear reigned; no bribery with trifles from packets from home or with hoarded cigarettes was able to mask an absent sense of camaraderie. This struggle in the East taught us something else: We lack everything that a civilized person needs, beginning with a spotless envelope and extending all the way to underwear without lice. When the kitchen and the supply wagon stay away for a few days, only two possibilities remain: to be lazy and suffer hunger, or to exert oneself and search until one has gathered the necessities for a meal. Letting others work for oneself is possible at most once or twice. For the rest, one is left to fend for oneself. Anyone unwilling to participate can at most disappear into a hospital with feigned rheumatism. Either one complains about the bad food, the little mail, the cold, windy guard posts where the ears and feet freeze, the lice and fleas, the deceitfulness of the Russians, or one gets through it all, manfully and without grumbling. It was probably the same during the World War. Even he who has lived for a long time in the tropical jungle knows this: from faraway places one first learns to appreciate culture and civilization at their true value; things that are quite ordinary, such as a clean bed or a good book, become moments from a better life. In short, one would wish the spoiled “jaded youth” of democracy a period of military service. But not only that; one knows that this represents their only salvation. War is not the destroyer of life, as our humanistic-pacifist upbringing has always led us to believe; on the contrary, it is only in the field that we become clearly aware of the value of this life, and only there can one fully learn to understand National Socialism as a philosophy of life.

The Führer awarded General Theodor Eicke of the Waffen-SS, commander of an SS division, the Oak Leaves to the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and sent him the following telegram: "In grateful appreciation of your heroic service in the fight for the future of our people, I award you, as the 88th soldier of the German Wehrmacht, the Oak Leaves to the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. Adolf Hitler."

While Obergruppenführer Eicke had already demonstrated in the Western Campaign what he was capable of with his fast-moving division, which was his own creation from its inception, he showed during the far longer and more arduous war in the East how perfectly at home he was. It was a situation of almost utter hopelessness that he mastered like few others; indeed, it was under this very duress that his strength seemed to grow to superhuman proportions. This embodies all the bull-neckedness of a fighter from Germany's darkest period, a fighter of a perseverance and loyalty such as we often encounter only in old songs, with a similarly simple beauty. It is now an open secret what an inferno he endured with his division and with considerable portions of the Wehrmacht that were placed under his command during this time. When the Bolsheviks, after weeks of a terrible winter battle, demanded his final surrender with a shield they had placed in front of our lines by a reconnaissance patrol, he answered on the same shield with a phrase that, while often used, was nonetheless remarkable. Obergruppenführer Eicke is a figure in the German military world for whom few of the usual measures would be appropriate. He is a soldier of the finest tradition and at the same time a thoroughly political activist; he is a man of culture and taste and can also be what we understand as an old warhorse of the fighting era. We know him as a man of great vision and clarity of thought, yet also as gruff and blunt towards the small things of everyday life. It would not be easy to do justice to a personality like Obergruppenführer Eicke within the framework of a report on the high and well-deserved honor bestowed upon him by the Führer. These lines cannot make such a claim. Rather, their author is content to merely stimulate his comrades to certain thoughts that are not fleeting. Thoughts about a man who deserves it as much as SS-Obergruppenführer Theodor Eicke.

The long night has now passed, a long night of worries and sorrow. Snow still covers the horizon with thick flakes, but spring light beckons in the distance and a new vista begins across the land. A new day will soon break! Then the sun will shine on a reborn earth. Our struggle has not proven in vain: the power of darkness has departed and has given birth to a beautiful future for us. The retreating darkness still covers our paths, the great light does not yet surround us, time still demands of each of our deeds. But we are resolute, Comrades. Not one will fall from our dense ranks! We stride forward, whatever the day may bring. We march on and bless the struggle. Where others may tremble for the future, there we take our hard, firm steps. The German people are not, as liberalism would have us believe, merely the current generation. Only in the unity of past, present, and future do we see the wholeness of our people. Two fundamental insights are necessary: ​​firstly, that we are only viable because the larger community of the "Volk" as a whole supports and sustains us; secondly, that every bearer of German blood is responsible for ensuring that the life of this community is carried pure into the future. This biological obligation to the community is indispensable. It should be noted that the current generation must be perceived as only one link in the chain of those who were and those who will come after us. This includes the obligation to accept and pass on the inherited heritage. State and people: The people describe the state, not the other way around. The bearer of the concept of the state is the living unity of the people. All life and every form of state organization must serve only the "people." Hitler stated that he comes from a long line of the peasantry. The records suggest he is undoubtedly correct. His origins are primarily of farmers.

The genealogy is now available in an expanded form, supplementing and correcting the previously known material. This broader knowledge of the ancestors deepens the picture, gained from earlier work, of the social and national unity of the Führer's purely peasant and purely German ancestry. The genealogy also reveals the great vitality of the ancestors and the extraordinary activity, love, and perseverance with which these peasant forebears cultivated the harsh soil of their homeland through centuries of arduous labor. In addition to the documentary evidence supporting the genealogy, the section on documents, by reproducing records preserved in various administrative files, provides insights into the economic and social conditions and thus conveys a picture of the lives and struggles of the ancestors.

Those who knew him from his earlier days may have it easiest. They knew an Adolf Hitler who, to the rest of the world, was still just a certain Adolf Hitler. They knew a man whose historical responsibility was still shrouded in the shadows of the future. For them, he was not only a human being among human beings on his birthdays, and they experienced the impression of his human greatness firsthand, so to speak; unaffected by the glare that, on the stage of world events, retouches the character of the great players. But for the rest of us, the later and the younger generation, he is the man of great deeds, the leader of the people and architect of the Reich, the man of a uniquely bold life path who lit the torch of a new faith in his century.

Turning to the subject of Russia, the Führer noted that in his book "Mein Kampf," he actually stated that Germany should unite with England. He had always wanted to collaborate with England, provided that England did not attempt to limit Germany's living space and that Germany would reclaim its former colonies. But since England wanted the conflict, he opted for Russia. This decision matured in him through long reflection and is immutable. He was able to establish, with Stalin, a definitive territorial border between the two countries. Germany and Russia have no conflicting interests; they complement each other economically in every field, and therefore the Führer is determined to always maintain friendly relations with that country in the future. Regarding the difference in regime, they are in reality two different worlds, but it was possible to understand each other's intentions in terms of abstaining from intervention in each other's internal affairs. On the other hand, it seems that Russia too is undergoing a far-reaching evolution, and the path Stalin has taken seems to lead to a kind of Slavic-Muscovite nationalism, moving away from the Jewish-international character of Bolshevism.

1.) War diaries (KTBs) contain documentary records for the portrayal of the war and its lessons. They form the foundation of a proud tradition. 2.) Do not view the KTB as an end in itself. Gather experience and pass it on immediately. 3.) The commanding officer is responsible for the KTB. The KTB bears the stamp of their personality; therefore, checks and feedback are necessary during meetings. 4.) Only the selection of a suitable officer as KTB keeper ensures that the achievements of the leadership, troops, and individual combatants are recognized. 5.) Keep a war diary daily! Changes in keeper must not disrupt the consistency of KTB management. 6.) Provide a clear picture of the combat operations. Record the significance of the Luftwaffe in the joint struggle of the Wehrmacht branches. Explain successes and failures according to their causes and effects. 7.) Appendices, organized by subject and time, are a valuable supplement, but never a replacement for the description of daily events 8.) Attach "combat reports" to the KTB and send copies immediately to O.K.L. as a contribution to the "Luftwaffe Troop Records." (Chief of the General Staff, 8th Detachment) submit. 9.) In place of destroyed war diaries, immediately gather available documents for a replacement war diary. In case of loss due to enemy action, initiate negotiations and clarify the question of liability. 10.) Early submission ensures rapid evaluation and relieves the troops of responsibility.
