| 2 | Dr. Erich Mende, PhD in law.
In the final months of the war, Mende became commander of Grenadier-Regiment 216. As the Soviet winter offensive of 1945 swept through East Prussia, his regiment fought a desperate series of delaying actions, repeatedly withdrawing while attempting to keep the front from collapsing. Mende's leadership during these battles, particularly his efforts to hold the line and enable thousands of East Prussian civilians and wounded soldiers to escape the advancing Red Army, earned him the Knight's Cross on 28 February 1945.
The end of the war brought another remarkable chapter. Mende managed to lead approximately 4,000 surviving men of the 102. Infanterie-Division westward, where they surrendered to British forces rather than fall into Soviet captivity.
After the war, Mende became a leading figure in the Free Democratic Party, served as its chairman from 1960 to 1968, and was Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for All-German Affairs from 1963 to 1966.

| 3 | These articles are usually dusting in ww2 German magazines such as Signal, Adler, Storm, Das Schwarze Korps etc. Very few people have access to it because they can't read German, or the magazines are not accessible or the quality is low.
I have translated 34 of these articles in past week (This one was short) and I will gradually post them all and translate more. I have not added any credits and everyone is free to share it without credit too. I just hope these things get shared more.

| 5 | Grenadiers push forward in Radzymin in summer 1944.
At 10:00 on 10 September, following a 90-minute artillery barrage, the Soviet 114th Rifle Corps attacked the German positions. The defenders included the 3rd SS-Panzer-Division Totenkopf and 5th SS-Panzer-Division Wiking. Totenkopf and Wiking troops initially threw back the infantry attacks with heavy losses. Then a regiment of the Soviet 160th Rifle Division, supported by tanks, penetrated through the German defensive fire around Hill 104 and reached the forest road toward Stanisławów.
At that point, Totenkopf's StuG 40 assault guns appeared around Hill 104 and forced the attackers back under heavy fire. The leading Soviet regiment was reportedly reduced by the evening to about 150 men and six tanks, isolated from its supporting forces and then annihilated near Stanisławów.

| 6 | Letter from a Swedish volunteer in the Waffen-SS on Christmas 1941 (from "Departure - Letters from Germanic Volunteers of the SS Division Wiking"):
“I had forgotten that there is so much that is base and depraved back home, such as the speech by a ‘Swedish statesman’ that I read, among other things, he said: Every sound national policy is selfish; the course we are following, supported by all groups in society, is cold-bloodedly selfish.’
When I read this, my thoughts turned to a German comrade, a 45 year old NCO named Otto Heine, who fell in battle. I knew him only a little; I knew only that he was a teacher by profession, an academic. We had spoken once; it was when I offered him my condolences in early November, for he had just received the news that his son had fallen in Finland. ‘Up there in the north,’ he said bitterly, ‘isn’t that where you Swedes are actually supposed to be?’
You can imagine how one feels when faced with such a question; have you ever turned bright red because you had to be ashamed of your country?! It felt to me as if we had murdered his son; if we had had even a drop of a sense of responsibility and decency, not a single German soldier would have had to be stationed in Finland.
I also read the son’s obituary - it simply read: ‘He died for culture.’ He was certainly no ‘cold-blooded egoist! You can’t be that if you stand on the line Adolf Hitler has drawn; perhaps then you won’t be supported by all groups in Swedish society, but you will be supported by all decent people across an entire continent.
I have a request for you, a gift I would like for my twentieth birthday: I would ask you to observe a minute of silence on this day in memory of the gray heroes who, in the Siberian cold, from Petsamo to Sevastopol, thousands of kilometers from their homeland, are fighting for you as well, you, who can celebrate Christmas in peace.
I ask you further that, if you hear these heroes, their country, and their Führer being mocked there, that you then stand up and speak your mind, even if it is to your relatives and closest friends, for the people who are casting mud at Germany today are worse than traitors; they are committing an outrage against an idea that inspires an entire continent, against the culture of Europe that has been created over the course of millennia, and which Adolf Hitler’s heroes are defending with weapons in hand against the barbarians in the East.

| 7 | It cannot be emphasised enough: BAP is a subversive faggot that must be ignored and attacked at every possible opportunity. He's not a faggot because he likes men, that's the least of his faggotry. He's a faggot because he's offering the path that imitates the righteous path but goes to a terrible dead end, or even off the cliff.

| 8 | Let Us Draw a Line!
Those who choose the righteous path must also reject the false one. It is not enough to know what is right in the abstract while leaving every false alternative unquestioned, tolerated, or half-embraced. To choose a path means to distinguish it from the roads that lead elsewhere. This becomes even more necessary when falsehood does not openly appear as falsehood. That is when a path imitates righteousness, speaks in its language, borrows its symbols.
The most obvious wrong turns are often the easiest to avoid. The greater danger lies in those paths that resemble the right one closely enough to deceive: paths that promise the same destination, appeal to the same ideals, and begin with familiar words, yet gradually lead away from their original purpose and ultimately to a dead end. This is the harder case, and it is the case that matters, because no man of any seriousness is deceived by evil that announces itself.
Such a path does not ask you to abandon your convictions. It asks you to keep them; and simply redirect them, an inch at a time, toward a different end. We have all seen the populist-showman merchants and online esoterist-tshirt seller merchants. We have all seen how they redirect people energy.
Toleration of the false is complicity. The man who says "I believe X, but I will not condemn Y" has not chosen X. He has only rented it, keeping the receipt for Y in his pocket, ready to return the one and collect the other the moment it becomes convenient. Conviction that costs nothing is preference, and preference bends wherever the wind is strongest. To choose is to close a door, and to close a door is an act of will, not merely of understanding.
Half-commitment is the most comfortable of all positions, because it asks nothing of the man who holds it. He does not need to defend his path, since he has not fully entered it; he does not need to fight for it, since he has kept a foot on the other side, ready to step back the moment the path proves costly.
Ein Weg, der die Sprache der Rechten spricht, ist darum noch nicht der rechte Weg. Die Sprache ist ein Kleid; man muss fragen, wer darunter geht.

| 11 | At first sight, our friends might get confused about this person nationality. But we already know that Russian does not carry intellectual ability nor the English proficiency to write this. Equally, the average North Korean is more busy looking for bread than to do this kind of stuff.
Therefore, only 1 suspect remains. The usual suspect. The people who speak English better and easier than the English themselves. The people who have lots of free time to write things in while on their "short 5h drive" to local Planet Fitness or work. We have already spoken about this and we do not tend to repeat ourselves.

| 15 | Dutch Victims of American bombs in Nijmegen are given the final salute.
On 22 February 1944, at about 1:28 p.m., Nijmegen was struck by American bombers. The original American mission was against the German aircraft industry around Gotha. Weather and operational problems disrupted the mission, and Nijmegen was selected as a target of opportunity on the return operation. Target of opportunity.
The bombing involved roughly 144 high-explosive bombs and about 150 fragmentation bombs. Around 1,300 houses were destroyed, while a substantial part of the historic centre was devastated. Over 880 Dutch were burnt to ashes.
One of the most horrifying individual episodes occurred at the Montessori kindergarten in the Lange Burchtstraat. 24 kindergarten children were killed, together with 8 nuns of the Congregation of Jesus Mary and Joseph who worked at the school. A particularly grim example concerns sisters Henny and Ria Arts, aged 4 and 6. Their father searched through the ruins for days. Eventually, among the debris of the school, he found their small silver drinking cups with their names engraved on them. The children themselves could not be recovered as identifiable bodies.

| 17 | Vollkornbrot Aktion (Whole grain Bread action)
The Reich Bread Committee (RVBA) systematically promoted the consumption of whole-grain bread (especially rye bread). Among other things, the committee initiated the nationwide Reich Campaign for the Promotion of Whole-Grain Bread Consumption, which received significant support from the official bodies of the NSDAP.
The RVBA's advertising campaign began with press releases published in state-controlled media, emphasizing the health benefits of whole-grain bread. White bread was portrayed as an unnatural, "chemical" product, excessive consumption of meat and fat was linked to obesity and cancer, and whole-grain bread was touted as a healthy and, moreover, cost-effective alternative. Posters and short films shown in cinemas were also used to promote whole-grain bread.
Furthermore, uniform guidelines for whole-grain bread were developed, and whole-grain bread training courses were conducted throughout the Reich. Bakers whose products passed inspection by the RVBA were allowed to call themselves wholegrain bread bakers and to mark their wholegrain bread with the official quality mark in the form of a life rune.

| 19 | Goliath in action
The Goliath was one of the strangest weapons of the ww2: a tiny tracked vehicle carrying a large explosive charge, driven toward its target by remote control. In theory it was a mechanical assassin of bunkers, tanks, bridges and barricades. In practice, it could be either spectacularly effective or almost absurdly vulnerable.
In the first days of March 1945, Soviet troops established a small bridgehead near Groß Särchen on the Neisse River. German engineers of Panzerkorps-Pionier-Bataillon 500, including its Goliath-equipped 3rd Company, were sent to eliminate it.
The first attack was a disaster. The Germans attempted to drive their Goliaths onto a restored bridge and detonate them. But artillery craters overturned some of the little vehicles, while others had their control cables tangled in tree roots. Soviet mortar fire then made further progress impossible.
The Germans tried again after dark. This time the enemy was surprised, and the German engineers retook their old riverbank positions "almost silently." Shortly afterward, near Köbeln, the same battalion used demolition carriers to destroy a weir that still offered the Soviets a possible crossing point over the Neisse. Here too Goliath carried the mission successfully and destroyed the crossing.
