What are phrasal verbs? Phrasal verb တွေဆိုတာဘာလည်း? - Verbတစ်ခုနဲ့ particles( adverb or preposition) တစ်ခု ဒါမှမဟုတ် တစ်ခုထပ်ပိုပြီး ပေါင်းထားတဲ့ စာလုံးတွေကို ပြောတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ Verb တွေ particleတွေ မှာသူတို့အတွက် သက်သက် meaningရှိပေမဲ့ နှစ်ခု ပူးထားရင်တော့ phrasal verbအနေနဲ့ အဓိပ္ပာယ်ပြောင်းသွားပါတယ်။ ဉပမာ: run into Run ကပြေးတာဆိုပေမဲ့ run into + somebody ဆိုပြီးပေါင်းရေးလိုက်မယ်ဆိုရင်တော့အဓိပ္ပာယ်ကပြောင်းသွားပြီ။ E.g., I ran into Steve in the supermarket the day before. (ဒီနေရာမှာ run into က “ပြေးတာ” မဟုတ်တော့ပဲ ”မထင်မှတ်ပဲတွေ့တာ” လို့ပြောင်းသွားပြီ) ။ Phrasal verbs တွေနဲ့ပတ်သတ်ပြီး သိထားရမဲ့နောက်တစ်ခုက သူတို့ကခွဲရေးလို့ရတဲ့ ( Transitive and separable) နဲ့ ခွဲရေးလို့မရတဲ့ ( Transitive and inseparable ) ဆိုပြီးနှစ်မျိုးရှိပါတယ်။ P.s တစ်ကယ်တော့နှစ်မျိုးထဲရှိတာမဟုတ်ဘူး BUT, we’ll save it for later ;) Transitive and Separable - ဒီလို phrasal verbတွေက object ကို particle ရဲ့နောက်မှာလည်းထားလို့ရတယ်ဒါမှမဟုတ် verb နဲ့ particleရဲ့ကြားမှာလည်းထည့်ရေးလိုက်လို့ရတယ်။ ဉပမာ: We brought up this child. Sbj + Verb+Particle + object We brought this child up. Sbj + Verb + Object + Particle Transitive and Inseparable - ဒီဟာတွေကိုကြတော့ object ကိုနေရာခွဲလို့မရဘူး particle ရဲ့အနောက်မှာပဲနေရပါမယ် verbနဲ့ particle ကိုလည်းလုံးဝခွဲရေးလို့မရပါဘူး. ဉပမာ: I love tea. I can’t do without it. ( do it without ဆိုလုံးဝမှားပါတယ်). Phrasal verbတွေအကြောင်းကိသိပြီးပြီဆိုတော့ phrasal verbအသစ်နည်းနည်းလေ့လာကြရအောင် Transitive and Separable -Carry out ( to act upon/ ဆောင်ရွက်သည်) Used for tasks, duties, or experiments. The scientists carried the experiment out. The scientist carried out the experiment. - Call of (to cancel/ ဖျက်သိမ်းသည်) Used for meetings, events, or weddings. The football match was called off due to the heavy rain. T-Think over (To consider carefully/စဉ်းစားချင့်ချိန်သည်) Used when thinking about a decision before making it. She thought over the contract before signing it. She thought the contract over before signing it. Transitive and Inseparable -Come across ( To find by chance/ တိုက်တိုက်ဆိုင်ဆိုင်ရှာတွေ့သည်) Use this when you weren't looking for something, but it "appeared." It’s about luck or coincidence. I came across this piece of news while I was surfing the internet. -See to ( Attend to, take care of/ စီစဉ်ပေးသည် / ကိုင်တွယ်ဖြေရှင်းသည်) Use this when there is a problem, a task, or a person that needs attention. It implies "I will handle it so you don't have to." Don’t bother cooking, I’ll see to it. -Go over (To review / Examine carefully/ပြန်လည်သုံးသပ်သည် / ပြန်စစ်သည်) Use this for accuracy or learning.
