yk what? i’m not even asking for much anymore. i’m not asking for a miracle, i’m not asking to wake up tomorrow and suddenly have the life of a nepo baby. i’m just asking for one thing to go right because for a while you get used to it yk? things go wrong, you take the hit, you smile, you say, "okay fine, we’ll deal with it and then it happens again and again and again and eventually you stop expecting anything different. you get used to disappointment but getting used to it doesn’t mean you’re okay with it and i’m not okay with it anymore. so universe, fate, god, saumya, whoever’s running this particularly lousy life of mine can we cut me a break? just one lousy win. let something work out without me having to fight tooth and nail for it. let me have one thing that doesn’t end with me standing there thinking "well, that could’ve gone better." because i’m tired and frankly i think i’ve earned a little good news. come on throw me a bone here, please.

all my friends were talking about beautiful memories from their childhood and i just sat there listening to them. initially i was genuinely happy for them, imagining how beautiful it must have been to have those memories to look back on. but at some point that happiness turns into melancholy because i realise i don't have many beautiful memories of my own to hold onto. even if there were happy moments i can barely remember them now. somehow the bad memories have stayed so much more vividly than the good ones and i hate that. i hate that when i look back sadness seems to occupy so much more of my childhood than happiness does. i wish i could remember something beautiful too.

i watched the grand budapest hotel today. no one can do color schemes like wes anderson. i was stupefied the entire time i was watching it because WOW. it’s such a delightful film about melancholy in a way and i adore it.
