A better question is: are people smart enough to vote? When you ask this question, and break down by gender, you'd take away the voting rights of at least 65% of men and 85% of women.

Fire is not a gas, solid or liquid. It’s sun-energy. I thought this was fascinating to learn. Most people know that trees absorb solar energy through photosynthesis, they use that energy to turn carbon dioxide into wood and plant matter. But the sun’s energy is captured and stored inside the tree’s wooden structure and remains there, even after the tree dies. When we burn wood the stored sun-energy escapes as heat and light; a small amount of the sun is literally coming back out of the wood. We call it fire. Trees are literally nature’s solar batteries.

I decided to revisit the biblical recalling of the deicide and found something few people bring attention to. In the oldest manuscripts, Barabbas's first name is also Jesus. Pontius Pilate doesn't offer "Jesus or a criminal." He offers Jesus Barabbas or Jesus the Christ. Barabbas translates to "son of the father," which can be read as the son of the Jewish nation, one of their own, promising violent liberation from Rome. Jesus Christ, on the other hand, claimed to be the Son of God: the spiritual messiah who stood against the Temple and the old Jewish customs. The crowd (aka Jews) chose to keep their old ways and sent Jesus Christ to death, but in 70 AD Jerusalem lay in ashes, and the Temple order whose destruction he foretold was gone. Some Christians interpret it as the Pharisees getting what they deserved, while it could also be interpreted as Jesus taking on the sins of the Jewish people because Barabbas (the guilty son of the father/rabbi) is ultimately set free instead of him. This echoes the ritual in Leviticus 16, where two goats are brought before the people: one is sacrificed, and the other, the scapegoat is released alive, carrying away the sins of the nation. Two men, two goats: the guilty one walks free, and the innocent one dies bearing the guilt. To me this is a commentary on what happens when a people choose their own over the truth.
