Real-Life Scenarios: 1-to-1 8-Week Speaking Course for Expats 🧑💻
Hi everyone!
I would like to introduce you a short course which is focused on practical speaking. We’ll work with real-life situations and realistic scenarios that you may encounter at work and while living abroad.
Over the 8 weeks, we’ll work on situations such as:
• introducing yourself and having conversations with new people
• small talk and everyday conversations
• explaining your work and technical topics clearly
• networking and professional conversations
• disagreeing, pushing back and saying no
• dealing with everyday situations abroad: doctors, landlords, banks, customer service, etc.
The classes will be speaking-focused: we’ll practise the situation that immigrants face, look at the language that would make your communication clearer and more natural, and then practise it again in different scenarios.
Format: 1-to-1
Duration: 8 weeks
Start: 19–23 October
End: Mid December
Classes: 16 × 60-minute classes
Price: €40 per class / €640 for the programme
Recommended level: B1+ or higher
If your level is lower, don’t hesitate to message me. We can discuss whether and how the programme could be adapted to your level 🎯
The goal isn’t to learn a list of phrases or “become fluent in 8 weeks.” The goal is to become more comfortable handling specific situations in English and more accurate when expressing yourself.

I’m not going anywhere *Temporary Channel Break*
Hey, everyone! It’s been a while. I've received messages here and there asking about my whereabouts over the past few weeks.
Honestly, my body and mental health have left the chat 😡.
Today is my last official work day before my one-month break. Next week we are going on road trip down to southern Portugal and then to Spain. After that, we're flying to Athens for 3 weeks. I'll be sharing some pictures with you.
I don’t think I'll be posting much about English for IT this month. I'm experiencing a lack of creativity and motivation.
Other than that, I wish you all a fantastic December, and I'll see you all in January with fresh new English for IT exercises 🎄.
Here’s Santa Dante to lift our spirits 😄
Other than meeting my ex-student for the first time offline, and getting hit with a padel ball 🎾 right in my eye, nothing special is happening.
The sad (and fortunate) part is that I don’t look like a pirate but my eye freaking hurts 🤣
How’s your week going?
Do you prefer gamified learning or the use of slides and documents during the lesson?
Vocabulary I used in the video above 👆🏻
Old fashioned - outdated, out of style, behind the times
To use something to its full potential- to maximise the benefits
To lack of something- to be without
To switch things up- to make a change
Clickable and draggable activities- to be able to click and drag elements
Pop up- to appear
Do you want to see Greek chickens and goats? 🤣
Anyways, I have 2 more available spots for the evening and morning speaking clubs.
So if you have been thinking about it for a long time this is your chance to join this year

My web summit reporter (aka my husband) is reporting live 😅
aka= also know as
WEBSUMMIT LISBON 2023
We are kicking off this week with one of the biggest tech conferences in the words where tickets sell for > €1000 and hotels charge > €500 per night.
So having a sponsor is not such a bad idea, right? 😅
I’ve heard that your can successfully network and make deals in the afterparties when everybody is drunk and relaxed.
Is anybody going?
Vocabulary:
To kick off (a meeting)= to start
To charge (in the context of money) = to request specific amount of money as payment
To make a deal = to negotiate and finalise an agreement

PS: the text was written with the help of deepl.com )) 🙃
This week we talked a lot about education 🗣
1) Is a university degree necessary to become a tech professional?
2) Would you hire someone who has completed a course in a short period of time?
3) Can you rely (=depend) only on experience?
And many other questions and real case scenarios you can discuss in tomorrow’s Speaking Club with other tech professionals.
When: Tomorrow, Thursday 9/11 at 9:00 (Lisbon Time) on ZOOM --> Time Zone Converter
Price: €15 / 90 minutes
To join DM @techtakeng and I’ll send you a Workbook for free ☺️
Your opinion really matters
Today, on my Linkedin, I raised this question (=asked this question):
❓If a tech professional finishes a 150-hour course in less than 3 weeks, would you feel hesitant (=have second thoughts) about hiring them?
I’m planning to write an article on my experience completing a course in a very short period of time and I want to explore (=analyse) the positive and negative sides.
Please, take part in the poll and share your ideas in the comments
