Batch 2 IT engineers tackled language barriers at today's Izumo hackathon!
They showcased tools to help foreigners overcome communication barriers in Japanese workplaces and schools.
Team one created a prototype of a Translation Tool for Engineers. When IT engineers from other countries use automatic translators to talk to Japanese engineers, sometimes the translations aren't great. The tool fixes that by using the project-specific terminology, appropriate formality levels, and matching the situation.
Two other teams concentrated on creating solutions that included class schedules and multilingual textbooks. In Izumo City, there are 154 students (as of 2022) who need help learning Japanese. Some are new to Japan and don't speak any yet. Therefore, creating a comfortable and supportive Japanese language learning environment is highly relevant.

Corporate culture in Izumo: Rustam's Test Batch Experience
Hello everyone! I'm Rustam, a Ruby developer who relocated to Izumo, Japan in December 2023 with my wife. Currently, I'm working at VitalLead as a Ruby on Rails Developer, where we develop and consult on transportation-related projects. I'm actively involved in the creation of a taxi-sharing app.

8 developers arrived this weekend, and today we welcomed them with an orientation meeting to outline their 2-week program.
The first week will be packed with visits to our partner company offices in different prefectures, cultural sightseeing, and even a meet-and-greet with the city mayor! The second week will focus on hackathon preparation, leading up to prototype presentations by our IT engineers on July 11th.

Hey there, future kohais! Stan here, checking in from Izumo.
Been here in Izumo for around 230 days or something like that, been working as a software engineer for Monstar Lab Omnibus for the same time also. Not the worst gig, truth to be told.
Japan is a place that makes you feel alive, even when you're drowning in lines of code or impossible deadlines.
# Project
Our current project is a big one, but nothing flashy. The client ditched their ancient third-party CRM and came to us for something new, something custom. We offered the best deal — cheap and effective. The offer that makes you wonder if it’s too good to be true. Around here, businesses limp along with outdated systems and an endless shuffle of Excel spreadsheets. They’re desperate for something more solid, more real, more custom.

📣 In just 2 weeks, our 2nd batch of developers will arrive in Izumo! They'll be here to explore Japan, meet with the city mayor and IT companies, and participate in the Hack Izumo hackathon on July 11th.
Hack Izumo, an initiative born from our program, bringing together IT engineers from Eastern Europe to showcase their expertise to Japanese IT companies and startups.
This isn't the first time we've hosted Hack Izumo - we've successfully organized two similar events in May 2023 and February of this year. During these hackathons, developers tackled real-world challenges faced by Izumo City and presented their solutions to a panel of judges and Japanese IT companies.
