“And of them are those who made a covenant with Allah (saying): ‘If He bestowed on us of His Bounty, we will verily, give Sadaqah (Zakat and voluntary charity in Allah's Cause) and will be certainly among those who are righteous.’ Then when He gave them of His Bounty, they became niggardly with it, and turned away, averse. So He punished them by putting hypocrisy into their hearts till the Day whereon they shall meet Him, because they broke that (covenant with Allah) which they had promised Him and because they used to tell lies (Allah knows all that they conceal).” [ 9:75–77] Imām as-Sa'di rahimah'ullāh said: “The believer should beware of this despicable characteristic: making a covenant with his Lord that if such-and-such objective of his is achieved he will do such-and-such, then he does not fulfill it. Perhaps Allah will punish him with hypocrisy, just as He punished these people.” [Tafsīr al-Sa’di p. 345] https://x.com/i/status/2088623080612499594
