ℹ️ Telegram also outlined in its application for the .gram top-level domain how the domain extension could work:

- Premium subscribers could obtain a username.gram domain through a separate process. - Domains for channels, groups, and bots could be auctioned, similar to how Fragment works today. - Domains could redirect to a Telegram profile or any other URL. - Registration would be open to everyone, not just Telegram users. - These are only proposed plans, and Telegram is not obligated to implement them exactly as described.

📱 Will Telegram get the .gram domain extension? Some time ago, it was announced that Telegram had applied to ICANN for the .gram domain zone.

ICANN is a nonprofit organization that coordinates the global domain name system (DNS) and helps keep the Internet stable and secure.

If approved, users would be able to obtain second-level domains.

For example, @anime would get anime.gram, and @goat would get goat.gram.

🆚 However, it turns out that Link Freedom Group Ltd. has also applied for the .gram domain extension.

Link Freedom Group Ltd is a Malta-based company specializing in top-level domains (TLDs). It has submitted over 300 applications for new domain extensions to ICANN in 2026.

🔨 This could mean that if both applications pass the required evaluations and remain in contention, ICANN may have to hold an auction for the .gram top-level domain. @heritage
