The month of May gets it's name from Hermes mother, Maia, a star nymph, and the most beautiful of the Pleiads. In Greek, "Maia" means "midwife", and Maia protects women ready to give birth, bringing to light the hidden fetus from the dark abyss of the womb. She symbolizes hidden secrets and turns them from invisible to visible. She helps and protects the embryo transform into a newborn, that will follow it's course into this mortal world. Lesser known epithet: Hermes Koryphaîos - Leader of the Chorus. In relation to his position with the many Nymphai (Nymphs), he was the deity most associated with them and stood between man and the Nymphai for their worship. Khaire Hermes Koryphaîos!
