12 Exercises on the use of tactical nuclear weapons
Today, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that in the Southern Military District, under the leadership of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, the first stage of the exercise has begun with practical testing of the preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons.
Combat training tasks are being practiced in obtaining special ammunition for the Iskander operational-tactical missile system, equipping launch vehicles with them and covertly advancing to a designated position area in preparation for missile launches.
The personnel of the aviation units of the Russian Aerospace Forces are practicing equipping with special combat units of aviation weapons, including the Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, and flying into designated patrol areas.
✨ When asked why troops begin to tinker with tactical nuclear weapons with such seemingly simple actions as receiving, equipping, training and sorties, we report:
▪️All peacetime, the “nuclear” was handled by the 12th Main Directorate of the Ministry of Defense ( 12 GUMO ) - the central military command body for the implementation of the military nuclear-technical policy of the state and nuclear support of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
▪️ “Regular” troops do not have access to nuclear arsenals. More precisely, it wasn’t. This means that there was no understanding of how to handle this special type of ammunition - tactical nuclear weapons. Now there will be such an experience.
▪️As follows from the statement of the Ministry of Defense, planes with “Daggers” equipped with training “nuclear ammunition” were lifted into the sky.
