🔥 Iran lays mines in the Strait of Hormuz targeting the Omani route — reports
Unconfirmed reports indicate at least some of the missiles fired into the Strait of Hormuz tonight carried naval mines — apparently dropped into the corridor through Omani waters that ships have been using to avoid Iranian clearance.
🔶 It is unclear how many mines were launched, or whether the deployment succeeded
🔶 The target appears to be the very route vessels have been using to evade the PGSA's transit requirements
🔶 Iran previously declared a restricted zone extending from the US Navy's blockade line through the strait and into the Persian Gulf
If confirmed, demining the Omani corridor would take time, ships, and sustained commitment from a US Navy that is already stretched to breaking. And every minesweeper sent into that corridor becomes a stationary target for Iranian forces.
Meanwhile, commercial vessels would have no choice but to obey the PGSA's designated safe route — because the alternative now has mines in it. That means Iranian clearance, Iranian paperwork, Iranian terms.

🛢🔍 Libya's pipeline crisis is over — but it's another bottleneck in a global oil supply running on fumes
Libya's National Oil Corporation has reopened Valve No. 7 on the Sharara-Zawiya pipeline and resumed pumping, with flows gradually returning to normal after an armed group shut it down earlier this week.
What the 5-day closure cost:

🔴 Production at Sharara — Libya's largest oilfield — was cut from 340,000 barrels per day to 130,000

Almost every major oil artery on Earth is either contested, blocked, burning, or drying up. Libya's pipeline was closed for 5 days over a pay dispute — and it cost nearly a million barrels in a market that has no spare capacity to absorb the loss.
The global oil supply has become a chain of single points of failure, with every link under strain.

🚢 Ships are emailing Iran to apologize for using unauthorized routes through Hormuz
Shipping companies are now formally writing to the Persian Gulf Strait Authority to ask for forgiveness for passing through the Strait of Hormuz without Iran's permission—and blaming the charterers who forced them to do so.
The US claims the strait is open. In reality, shipowners are sending apology emails to Iran, pleading with the PGSA to lift restrictions on their vessels and promising to comply with Iranian regulations in the future.
The PGSA has warned that companies in violation will be added to the Non-Compliance List, which would restrict their vessels' future transit. At least 4 ships have been struck by Iranian missiles and drones in the Strait of Hormuz in the past few hours.

🤥 Trump positions obscure Pentagon-linked energy firm to commandeer Venezuelan oil production
North American Blue Energy Partners, a minor energy player linked to the DoD’s Office of Strategic Capital, has assembled 60 drilling rigs and 30 steam boilers needed to move heavy crude in preparation to deploy at some 17 superfields containing up to 20% of Venezuela’s oil reserves (~65B barrels).
The US military has a 35% passive stake in the company, and preferential rights to buy 20% of NABEP’s production at cost, per WSJ.
US oil giants Chevron, ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips were reportedly taken off guard by the deal, and expressed private “frustration” over the unfair competitive advantage NABEP will be getting by teaming up with the US government.
NABEP is already the second-largest “private” oil producer in Venezuela, cranking out ~220k bpd, and planning to ramp production up to 280k bpd by early 2027, and 500k by 2028, which would put it in the top 20 globally essentially overnight.
Not wanting to be outdone, Chevron has announced a five-year $7B oil field development project, including two new fields which it hopes to use to help increase its Venezuelan output to 600k bpd.
