π’ CoinDCX Confirms $16M Theft After Denying It for Days
Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX has admitted that $15.99 million USDT was stolen from deprecated wallets β but only after blockchain investigator ZachXBT exposed the drain and co-founder Sumit Gupta had publicly dismissed the reports as rumours.
The theft traces back to CoinDCX's July 2025 security breach. After that incident, the exchange retired compromised wallets and told users to switch to new deposit addresses. Some users kept sending funds to the old ones anyway, and an automated system designed to sweep those deposits into secure storage was apparently still active β making the old wallets a live target.
Attackers drained the lingering funds. CoinDCX waited three days after ZachXBT's report before confirming the loss, shifting from denial to admission. The exchange says user funds are safe and the loss will be covered from company reserves β but the delayed, contradictory communication has drawn sharp criticism from the crypto community.

Electrum, one of the oldest and most widely used Bitcoin wallets, has released version 4.8.3 to patch a critical security vulnerability.
The flaw allowed a malicious server to hijack a manual fee-bump action β turning it into approval of an attacker-controlled payment. In other words, an attacker could redirect your Bitcoin to their own address without ever needing your private keys.
