In the latest podcast episode, Larisa sat down with Shant Hovnanian, a true technology pioneer whose career spans telecom and artificial intelligence. A Wharton graduate, Shant co-founded CellularVision in 1985, pioneering LMDS millimeter-wave technology that laid the groundwork for modern 5G networks. As Chairman and CEO of Speedus Corp, he co-authored patents across wireless systems and AI medical diagnostics. He later co-founded Zargis Medical with Siemens, creating Cardioscan, the first FDA-approved AI medical device, which won the 2010 Gold Edison Award. In Tarot, Key 13 signifies radical transformation, so new growth can occur. In technology, the arrival of AI, and agentic workflows that render traditional roles obsolete overnight. After watching Neill Blomkamp's AI-generated short film "Nightborne", you are left with a strange, lingering feeling. At first glance, everything looks flawless: cinematic lighting, surprisingly natural lip-syncing; however, the upper portion of the characters' faces gives the game away. The eyes and foreheads remain unnaturally frozen, lacking those subtle micro-expressions that connect a human's thoughts with their facial expressions. While many online were quick to criticize the project, Vasiliy Mazin (Head of AI Lab and Co-owner of Mind Simulation Lab) sees something more in it. To him, this is not a failure, but a clumsy first step, similar to those made by 3D animation in its early days. This experiment clearly demonstrates the exact barrier that AI filmmaking technologies have yet to overcome.
