Types of electrical switches:
Electrical switches are essential devices used to control the flow of electric current in lighting systems, appliances, machinery, and industrial circuits. Different types of switches are designed according to the required operation, number of control points, switching mechanism, and electrical application. 🔌⚙️
🔹 1. one way switch
Used to control a light or electrical load from one location. It is one of the most commonly used switches in residential wiring.
🔹 2. two way switch
Allows a single electrical circuit to be controlled from two different locations, such as at both ends of a staircase.
🔹 3. intermediate switch
Used together with two-way switches to control one light from three or more locations.
🔹 4. pull cord switch
Operated by pulling a hanging cord or chain. Commonly used in bathrooms, ceiling lights, and areas where hands-free distance operation is useful.
🔹 5. rotary switch
Uses a rotating knob to select different circuit positions or operating modes.
🔹 6. dimmer switch
Allows adjustment of the brightness of compatible lighting systems, helping improve comfort and energy control. 💡
🔹 7. push button switch
Operated by pressing a button and commonly used in doorbells, control panels, machinery, and automation systems.
🔹 8. toggle switch
Uses a lever mechanism that moves between different positions to turn a circuit ON or OFF.

Requires a key for operation, providing controlled access and additional security for electrical equipment.
🔹 10. rocker switch
Uses a rocking mechanism and is widely used in household appliances, power strips, and electronic equipment.

A mechanically operated switch used to detect the position, movement, or presence of an object in industrial automation. 🏭
🔹 12. cam switch
Uses a rotating cam mechanism to make or break different electrical contacts and is commonly used in control panels and industrial applications.

Electricity is generated using different energy sources and technologies depending on the availability of fuel, natural resources, environmental conditions, and power demand. 🌍⚙️
Each type of power plant converts a specific form of energy—such as heat, flowing water, sunlight, wind, biomass, or ocean energy—into electrical energy.
🔥 1. thermal (coal) power plant
Coal is burned to produce heat, which converts water into high-pressure steam. The steam rotates a turbine connected to an electrical generator. ⚙️⚡️
🌋 9. geothermal power plant
Heat from beneath the Earth's surface is used to produce steam or heat a working fluid that drives a turbine-generator.
Energy source: Earth's internal heat
Main advantage: Reliable renewable baseload power
Main requirement: Suitable geothermal resources

The movement of ocean tides is used to drive turbines and generate electricity.

Series compensators are used in transmission lines to reduce line reactance and improve power transfer capability.
Formula:
Xeffective = XL − XC
🔹 Why used?
✅ Increase power transfer
✅ Improve voltage regulation
✅ Enhance system stability
✅ Reduce transmission losses
🔹 Where used?
• Long transmission lines
• 220kV / 400kV / 765kV systems
• Heavy load power corridors
🔹 Types:
• FSC (Fixed Series Capacitor)
• TCSC (Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor)
