Back when I still had close friends, sometimes one of them would text me and ask, “What are you up to? Why have you been so distant?” And I couldn’t bring myself to tell them, “I’m not okay. I haven’t been doing well.” So I pushed them away. I ended so many friendships. Now, even when my mom texts me in the middle of the night to ask, “What are you doing?”, I don’t reply. Little by little, I’m cutting everyone out of my life because I can’t bring myself to tell them I’m not okay. I’m ashamed of how long I’ve been feeling this way.
My birthday is a month away, and I’m still not okay. I haven’t been okay for months. I feel like I’m never going to be okay again.
