Rice • Cultivated widely in Eastern UP where rainfall is higher. • Major rice-producing districts: Gorakhpur, Balrampur, Deoria. c. Pulses • Grown in rainfed areas of Bundelkhand and Eastern UP. • Includes lentils (masoor), chickpeas (chana), and pigeon peas (arhar). d. Maize and Millets • Maize grown in districts like Bahraich, Lakhimpur. • Millets like jowar and bajra grown in drier regions. ⸻ B. Cash Crops a. Sugarcane • UP is the largest producer of sugarcane in India. • Primarily grown in Western UP (e.g., Saharanpur, Bijnor, Muzaffarnagar). • Supports large sugar and ethanol industries. b.
