πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄βš–οΈβš‘οΈ 5 days ago, a high profile corruption case involving the former 2nd most powerful man in the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and the former head of the SRI's legal department surfaced. Florian Coldea and Dumitru DumbravΔƒ were cited by the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) and were questioned for 15 hours following a complaint made by a local businessman, CΔƒtΔƒlin Hideg. Hideg revealed that he was charged 600k EURs by Coldea through a lawyer in order to escape prison. The money was going to be split by Coldea, DumbravΔƒ and the lawyer who promised him to influence the judge and get him the sentence he desired. Hideg paid 100k EURs to show that he was serious but the two SRI generals failed to prevent Hideg's imprisonment and as soon as it was possible, Hideg ratted out his co-conspirators. CΔƒtΔƒlin Hideg is no saint. He is a freemason like every high ranking intelligence officer and politician (including those that failed him) and owns the Sanimed group and is responsible for tens of thousands of expensive contracts with various institutions of the Romanian state which enriched him greatly. Sanimed sells sterile compresses and other items and goods used by hospitals in their regular activities. Hideg once studied for a master's degree at the National Academy of Information which belongs to the SRI and was a student of a now disgraced SRI general who was caught selling PhD's and master's degrees to anyone willing to pay. In 2020 Hideg started selling surgical masks, surgical gloves and other precaution equipment to hospitals across the country in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. He won a 12 million EUR contract for masks with a company headquartered in a town some 30 km south of Bucharest with one employee. This contract is currently under investigation by the DNA. Earlier this year Hideg was sentenced to 4 years in prison for embezzlement and money laundering managing to gain 3 million EURs worth of EU funds. This is the sentence Hideg was trying to avoid and contacted Florian Coldea and Dumitru DumbravΔƒ through a lawyer. Coldea and DumbravΔƒ were retired by president Klaus Johannis in 2017. They rose to preeminence under president Traian BΔƒsescu with Coldea being recognised for his efforts in bringing home three Romanian journalists that were kidnapped in Iraq in the spring of 2005. They later became known as the "founders of the deep state" and reportedly were "able to find compromising information about anyone". The money Hideg paid was done through the "classic" embezzlement scheme. Coldea is the chairman of two consulting firms and Hideg "purchased" two consulting contracts for his companies from Coldea as a way to mask the transfer and not raise suspicions from other agencies.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ€πŸ‡²πŸ‡© Antony Blinken has left the premises of the Moldovan presidential palace as locals filmed his motorcade traveling to the city. He is expected to arrive in Prague, Czechia, tomorrow meaning that his visit in Moldova is officially over. πŸ“ Blinken revealed that the U.S. has spent, so far, over 1 billion USD to combat Russian influence in the country by "consolidating Moldovan institutions" (774 million USDs + 50 million more) and some 195 million USDs for energy-linked projects to reduce Moldova's reliance on Russia and Transnistria. These projects were more successful as Moldova is actively connecting her power grid to Romania's. @Wallachian_Gazette

Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure have also affected the Republic of Moldova, driving up energy prices, which has affected businesses and household consumers. We want to increase renewable energy sources to move away from dependence on Russian resources. Over the past few years we have provided $110 million to offset the high price of electricity. Today I will visit an energy station and I am happy to announce an investment of 85 million dollars for the structure like battery storage, high voltage lines, which will be financed from these funds. @Wallachian_Gazette

πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸŸ¨βš‘οΈ President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen is allegedly negotiating an alliance with the European Conservatives and Reformists bloc (ECR). Such an alliance between the EPP and ECR will destroy the current EPP-S&D-Renew alliance as the S&D through Olaf Scholz warned VDL that they will abandon the alliance and not back VDL for a 2nd term. Although such an alliance is unlikely because the EPP will NOT be able to form a majority with the ECR in the European Parliament which should be the goal of VDL and the EPP in order to be able to pass any kind of legislation. The EPP has been allied with the S&D and Renew Europe (ALDE before 2019) since the first EU election in 1979. The EPP, a loosely conservative group, the S&D reuniting the social-democrat parties and ALDE, reuniting progressivist forces (now RE) have been dominating the European Parliament since 1979 and have ruled the EU since as they consistently were the 1st, 2nd and 3rd biggest political forces in the EU. 2024 is interesting in this aspect because it looks like that, at least Renew Europe will be overtaken by the ECR most likely in the number of seats, especially now that Marine Le Pen's National Rally withdrew from the ID bloc. In the context of Romanian politics this will be interesting. PNL and PSD are allied but they can end up supporting two different candidates for the next European Commission, PNL being in the EPP and PSD in the S&D. The biggest hypocrites however will be those in AUR, who, if this alliance between the ECR and EPP forms, will be obligated to support VDL for a 2nd term even though they pledged to oppose such an arrangement. In the context of EU politics, Meloni and the ECR are nothing but a disappointment having failed to fulfill most of their promises related to immigration and the centralization of the EU and AUR who claims to oppose these things prefers to side with the ECR who betrayed its voters. If AUR wants to stick to their principles, they have to join the ID bloc. @Wallachian_Gazette

πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸ—―πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ Traian BΔƒsescu on the Russo-Ukrainian war: The talk of an armistice between Kiev and Moscow is a trick played by the Russian propaganda apparatus who more often than not relies on the lies told by Putin. Putin says he wants an armistice but very recently they bombed Kharkov and are advancing all across the frontline, this isn't a situation where you sign an armistice. We, in the West, are confronted with a big problem: we don't know what the term "victory" means in this conflict. Zelensky says that "victory" means a full and complete restoration of Ukraine's 1991 borders but the situation on the ground shows that its virtually impossible no matter how much equipment the West gives him. He doesn't have enough manpower to rotate troops and barely enough to replace the brigades that were destroyed or worn down by the Russians. Yet, the West keeps talking about "achieving victory in Ukraine", but what do they mean by that? Does "victory" mean freezing the frontline as is today? or sending the Russian army back to the 1991 borders? As a member of the Parliamentary commission on foreign affairs in Brussels, I have asked this but no one could answer me and this is the greatest weakness of politicians. The reality is that the territory occupied by iron and blood remain in the hands of those that conquered them, a fact that can be observed numerous times in history and I don't think that Vladimir Putin will propose an armistice that says "well, after I conquered Donetsk, Lugansk and part of Kharkov, I shall withdraw my armies" and I refuse to believe that he will. Any piece of land that is taken by the Russian army will remain in their hands. Rather, the question now is how much longer do we want this war to continue? because the Russian army is advancing and how long do we wait for? until wherever or whenever Putin decides to stop? Negotiations must be carried out and no, a "peace summit" without Russia and Ukraine at the same table is not "negotiation" nor " a peace summit". @Wallachian_Gazette

πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸ—―πŸ‡²πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί Traian BΔƒsescu tells that according to the North Atlantic Treaty, Romania as a NATO state is forbidden to militarily intervene in Moldova even if the Russian army reaches Transnistria. Romania as a country which respects international law can only intervene in Moldova if Moldova was to attack Romania but since Moldova is friendly with Romania and most importantly, is an internationally recognised state, meaning it has undisputed sovereignty over its territory, Romania cannot legally send troops into the country. @Wallachian_Gazette

πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸ—―πŸ‡²πŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί Former Romanian president, Traian BΔƒsescu, shared his thoughts about Moldova: How I see it, Moldova has two options: convince Transnistria that it would be better to join Moldova in the European Union or go without Transnistria into the EU, but it would be a shame for Moldova to abandon Transnistria like that, even if historically speaking, Transnistria became part of Moldova as a result of some administrative decisions. My advice for anyone in Moldova, politician or ordinary citizen, would be to join the European Union at the first opportunity and not unnecessarily delay this entry by tying it to a "Transnistrian question", after all, historically speaking, Romania and Moldavia ended at the Dniester. Now, regarding the process of becoming a member of the EU, Moldova has two options, the fast option, that is union with Romania or the long and arduous track of becoming an EU member in its own right. @Wallachian_Gazette

πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸ”«πŸš€πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡©πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡πŸ‡Ί Three Romanian arms factories enter into partnership with US, German and Hungarian arms manufacturers Two memoranda of understanding were signed today between the Romanian defence industry and foreign manufacturers. One is between Uzina Mecanica Cugir and Hekler & Koch GmbH (Germany). The second is between Romaero and Aeroplex of Central Europe Aircraft Technology Center (Hungary). The next are agreements between Romarm and General Dynamics (USA) and Uzina Carfil and Periscope Aviation (USA). The memorandum between UM Cugir and Hekler & Koch GmbH aims to negotiate a joint venture, a strategic partnership, for the joint production of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) with NATO technology on the Uzina's platform, the Economy Ministry writes in a release. The Memorandum of Understanding between Romaero, which is in insolvency, and Aeroplex of Central Europe Aircraft Technology Center provides for the provision of maintenance and repair services for Boeing 737 classic & NG and Airbus A320 family aircraft. The memoranda were signed at the Bucharest International Defence Show and Aerospace (BSDA) 2024 event. There, Minister Radu Oprea said that on Friday Romarm, the state-owned umbrella company of the national armaments industry, will sign another memorandum of understanding, with General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (USA), which will create the conditions for the modernisation of the production of large-calibre ammunition and the development of production capacities for NATO standard ammunition in the factories of Romarm subsidiaries. Also on Friday, a step is taken towards the production of the first Romanian drone. The Carfil factory in Brasov will sign a strategic industrial cooperation agreement with the American manufacturer of military and civil drones - Periscope Aviation. The Romanian arms industry is on the rocks. Partnerships are seen as the solution Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said today at the opening of BSDA 2024 that Romania can no longer afford to make the mistakes of the past, when arms factories were closed and those that remained alive were threatened with bankruptcy". The Prime Minister also said that Economy Minister Radu Oprea is preparing an ambitious project on the Romanian Drone. The government has been preparing such partnerships for some time because of the need for defence, in a context where almost all Romanian arms factories are in a very difficult financial situation due to lack of technology and poor management. In March, the European Commission approved a €47m project to build a powder factory in Brasov county, to be built by German company Rheinmetall. The list of companies in the portfolio of the Ministry of Economy includes almost the entire Romanian defence industry, at company level. We have Craiova Aircraft, IAR Ghimbav, IOR, Romaero, Uzina Mecanica OrΔƒΘ™tie, Tohan ZΔƒrneΘ™ti, Carfil BraΘ™ov, Uzina Mecanica Plopeni, Uzina Mecanica Cugir, Uzina Mecanica Sadu, Uzina Mecanica Mija, Uzina Mecanica Moreni, Uzina Mecanica BucureΘ™ti, Uzina SpecialΔƒ DragomireΘ™ti, Fabrica de Pulberi FΔƒgΔƒraΘ™, Uzina Cugir, Uzina DrΔƒgΔƒΘ™ani. Telegram to Introduce Fact-Checking Feature The source code of Telegram for Android has revealed lines indicating the development of a new feature called "Fact Check." It appears that this feature will be implemented in partnership with government-assigned fact checking agencies. - The "Fact Check" feature will allow additional clarifying information to be attached to messages. However, it will function differently from Twitter's Community Notes, even though they might seem similar at first glance. - The government in your country will be able to appoint an agency to conduct fact-checking on public Telegram channel posts. This agency will have full control over the content of these fact check blocks, while regular users will not be able to influence or have a say in the notes. By clicking on the "What is this?" tool-tip, details about the agency providing the fact-check will be shown. - Unlike Telegram's "Fact Check" feature, Twitter's Community Notes are created and evaluated by regular users, and the most useful notes are selected by an algorithm based on votes from readers with diverse political views.

πŸš’πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡ΏπŸ‡·πŸ‡΄ A week after the Tanzanian ship, Mohammad Z, sunk off the coast of Romania, there are more questions than answers. 3 of the 11 crew have died in this accident. Preliminary investigations revealed that the ship sank not because it struck a loose mine but because it collided with another ship, Michel, which after ramming the Tanzanian vessel, carried on her journey to the Bulgarian port of Varna. The route of the ship that sank is unclear. Although it was supposed to arrive at the Romanian port of Sulina, it was far away from the shore, some 14 miles outside the territorial waters of Romania (the first 12 nautical miles from the shore are considered territorial waters per the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea) and sank some 26 miles off the small port of SfΓ’ntu Gheorghe, a big distance for a ship that was supposed to stop at Sulina. We also have no idea what cargo was the ship, Mohammad Z, transporting. These missing pieces of informations as well as the ships position when it sank suggest that it was not heading towards Romania but rather to one of Ukraine's Danubian ports. It would have needed to cross the Bystroye Canal and then into the Chilia(Kilia) branch and then reach its destination. The Bystroye Canal is a point of controversy between Bucharest and Kiev because, from the point of view of international law, Romania has exclusive rights to commercial shipping on the Danube through the Sulina Canal, also a natural branch of the Danube. The canal was widened by the British in the 1870s and once Romania took control of the area after the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878 it became the preferred way for ships to enter and leave the Danube as the SfΓ’ntu Gheorghe branch was narrow and ships risked getting stuck and the Chilia branch which formed the border with Russia at the time, represented a longer route. The Bystroye Canal was built by the USSR in the 1950s to shorten the way between the USSR's (now Ukraine's) ports on the Danube and the Black Sea. However, the Soviets relatively quickly abandoned the canal due to how quick the Danube would silt the area meaning that constant maintenance was needed so the canal was unprofitable. After Ukrainian independence, Kiev set out to rebuild the canal and, to crush the competition from Romania, sank the Rostock ship in the Sulina Canal in 1991. The Sulina canal would be open again in 2004 with tens of millions of USDs in revenue lost to Ukraine who charged vessels more on the Bystroye Canal due to the high maintenance required. In 2022 the Bystroye Canal became important again as ships could not reach Odessa, Nikolaev and other ports in Ukraine besides Chilia(Kilia) and Izmail without coming under fire from Russian bombs or hitting Ukrainian naval mines. Due to foreign pressure, Bucharest ignored the dredging work done by Kiev who deepened the canal allowing heavier ships to enter the Danube but this situation cannot go on forever. Sulina's traffic has decreased meanwhile the traffic on Bystroye has increased. Bucharest is losing revenue for Ukraine for nothing in return. Add to this environmental concerns regarding the flow of the Danube which tends to concentrate in the northern Chilia branch, even more now that the Bystroye canal was dug up and deepened allowing for more water to flow into the Black Sea and Romania could lose not just the shipping but also the Danube Delta itself. πŸ”— https://www.dw.com/ro/ucraina-b%C3%AEstroe-nava-scufundat%C4%83-%C8%99i-interesul-rom%C3%A2niei/a-69130028

πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸŽ™πŸ‡·πŸ‡Ί Marcel Ciolacu: We have seen a Russian concern that a company with 3,000 employees is working on the Moldova Highway 24 hours a day / Our country is a very safe country / Russia will not attack Romania "I saw today, this morning, a Russian concern that a company with 3,000 employees is working on the Moldova motorway and a great concern of the Russian administration, why at this moment a company, the same one that works here (on the A1 motorway, between Margina and Holdea - editor's note), is working with 3,000 employees, 24 hours a day on the Moldova motorway. They are worried, I am happy that we are keeping our word and building the Moldova motorway." "Our country is a very safe country. We are members of NATO, let's end this... No, Russia will not attack Romania. It's a game, it's also a hybrid war. The country that is subject to the biggest hybrid war, you know it, is the Republic of Moldova. We have a state in an armed war, Ukraine, and a state under a hybrid war, the Republic of Moldova, bearing in mind that they also have elections for president, I think in October. Romania is a safe country, it will not go to war and Russia will not attack Romania, for sure. We are ready, don't just take all the news at face value." What is interesting about this piece of news particularly is that the Romanian prime-minister seems to be a reader of the Russian think tank, Rybar, who used to write last January about the progress and speed with which Romania is building the A7 "Moldova" motorway. He correctly relayed to journalists details in the post which mean that he had read it, perhaps very recently as the post is more than 4 months old. However, the A7 motorway as it stands today, was contracted from the city of PloieΘ™ti and will end near the town of PaΘ™cani which is still 96km away from the Ukrainian border, and it won't even be completed earlier than 2026 with some sections expected to drag on to 2027. The last link from PaΘ™cani to the Siret-Porubne crossing will not be completed earlier than 2028 or 2029 and the likelihood of the Russo-Ukrainian war to drag on at the current intensity to 2026 let alone 2028 is extremely unlikely. In any case, the A7 motorway will not come in time to help Ukraine, it remains however, extremely important for the economic development of Moldavia and Bucovina which will finally have a high speed road linking them to Bucharest. πŸ”— https://www.news.ro/politic-intern/marcel-ciolacu-am-vazut-o-ingrijorare-a-rusiei-ca-lucreaza-o-companie-cu-3-000-de-angajati-pe-autostrada-moldovei-24-de-ore-din-24-tara-noastra-e-o-tara-foarte-sigura-rusia-nu-va-ataca-romania-1922405325002024051121604875

πŸ‡²πŸ‡©πŸ€πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄ President of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), George Niculescu, claimed that Romania saved Moldova from a total blackout over the last two winters (2022-2023 and 2023-2024). "Romania has shown consistency in recent years with very high levels of funding sources and government programmes. We also saw during the energy crisis that Romania literally kept the lights on in Moldova for two winters, meaning that the help given to the neighbours was consistent. We were able to do this precisely because we had an energy system ready to do this, ready to ensure the need for energy at the level of energy consumption in Romania and then we were able to lend a hand to the Republic of Moldova as well." β€” George Niculescu. He said that Romania could become capable of providing this aid to other countries, thus strengthening its position as a regional leader in energy. He noted that our country has already become a leader in the region in the field of offshore wind, by adopting a law regulating the field, the first among all the countries bordering the Black Sea. "I repeat, I believe that the solution to this problem is investment throughout the chain: in electricity production, in the development of transmission networks - because there is no point in producing energy in the south-east of Romania, as we are producing now, if we are not able to transport it to the north-west consumption area, especially, investment in distribution networks that must meet all the challenges of this period, from prosumption to projects that need to be connected to the distribution networks, digitization, etc.," stressed the ANRE president. πŸ”— https://www.hotnews.ro/stiri-esential-27157803-seful-anre-romania-tinut-lumina-aprinsa-moldova-propriu-pentru-doua-ierni.htm

The informational war is more aggressive however and Russian influence makes itself known through self proclaimed pro-Russian parties and disguised parties (...) to sabotage the upcoming presidential elections in Moldova and the referendum on joining the European Union. πŸŽ™ I think its impossible to get rid of compromised people. I look at Romania, Germany, Austria and they have Russian agents. Maybe calling them "agents" is too harsh but the Kremlin knows how to exploit euroscepticism and other vulnerabilities which add fuel to populist extremist parties. Back to Moldova, we know who is pro-Putin and we know who is pro-European. Some people in the pro-European camp were just yesterday avid supporters of the Russian president and I don't think they abandoned their convictions over night. We have learnt how they operate, what tools they use and we can share this knowledge with our colleagues here in Bucharest. Sometimes, Romanian politicians embrace very quickly specimens who are neither pro-European and neither sympathetic towards their country β€” Igor Grosu Marcel Ciolacu and other liberal, social-democrat and progressive politicians have proven themselves to be more willing to listen to what other countries say about parties like AUR, than trusting their fellow nationals or their own intelligence services which were not able to provide any compromising evidence about foreign interference, other than complicated 6D chess schemes because AUR is not a liberal and progressive party. Past actions would suggest that Grosu might be taken on this offer and foreign officials will decide whether or not political parties in a neighbouring country, are "fit" to campaign in elections or worthy of the votes of Romanian citizens. πŸ”— https://www.dw.com/ro/nu-doar-republica-moldova-are-ru%C8%99i-infiltra%C8%9Bi-ci-%C8%99i-rom%C3%A2nia/a-69181268

πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄β˜¦οΈβš‘οΈ His Beatitude, Patriarch Daniel of Romania, on the occasion of the National Day of Romanians everywhere, celebrated on the last Sunday in the month of May, sent a message stressing the importance of the family in relation to the Orthodox faith. The family is the priority environment in which faith is assumed Christ is risen! (...) The Romanians who left the country for various reasons, took their ancestral faith with them to the great world, carried the church of their home in their souls, lived the Orthodox spirituality and holy faith. This is why the Mother Church, through the care of her spiritual sons, has established numerous parishes and dioceses in the Diaspora, to meet the spiritual needs of the Romanian Orthodox faithful. Thus, in addition to the dioceses already organized, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, in its working session of 29 February 2024, approved the establishment of the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, based in London, and the Romanian Orthodox Diocese of Ireland and Iceland, based in Dublin. In all these foreign dioceses of the Romanian Orthodox Church, there are currently 1,578 parishes and parishes, 74 Romanian Orthodox monastic establishments, served by 1,519 Romanian clergy. In the current context of global migration, the Romanian Orthodox Church is developing and intensifying its pastoral and social mission and responsibility towards the Romanian Orthodox abroad, whom it considers its faithful sons and daughters and an integral part of the Romanian Orthodox communion everywhere. The Church's benevolent influence is received, experienced and transmitted to children especially through families made up of believers attached to Orthodox values. The family is the primary environment in which the faith is assumed, practised, loved and passed on to the descendants. The closeness to God, familiarity with the saints, with the lights of faith are discovered through the work of spiritual shepherds and pious people who manifest their faith in life with nobility and love. This is why Romanians wish to preserve the unity of the family, made up of man, woman and children, because the family blessed by God represents the most precious intimate space in which conjugal love is expressed, as well as parental, filial and brotherly love. It is also very necessary to educate the younger generation in the spirit of love for God, the Church and the nation, and to cultivate the essential virtues in the souls of children and young people, such as love and compassion, solidarity with people in need, friendship, courage and hope. Thus, the mission of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the Diaspora is linked to the cultivation of the holy aspirations of Romanians abroad, family unity, Romanian language, Christian faith and Romanian culture in dialogue with the great universal cultures. Therefore, the Church and the family are called to give birth to and raise faithful, hardworking and generous people, with love for their nation and homeland. We congratulate the supporters of the Department for Romanians Abroad for their generous support to Romanian communities in the Diaspora and for organising the events dedicated to the Day of Romanians Abroad. We wish all Romanians here and abroad peace and health, joy and salvation. With paternal blessing and fraternal greetings, † Daniel Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church πŸ”— https://basilica.ro/patriarhul-daniel-catre-romanii-de-pretutindeni-familia-este-mediul-prioritar-in-care-credinta-este-asumata/

πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄πŸͺ§βš‘️ Over the last couple of weeks, discontent among employees in several institutions led to minor strikes, all complaining about poor working conditions and low salaries. πŸ“Œ The strikes reunited employees of the central administration apparatus, museum employees, and a number of ministries and their subordinate agencies. ♦️ Recently the government decided to raise by 10% the salaries of some of its employees working in diplomacy, part of the public administration apparatus, the National Commerce Register Office (ONRC) and other institutions financed directly, partly or without any government subsidies but are in the subordination of the government. There will be a 5% raise before the June 9th elections and another 5% raise in the autumn, so a lot of people are still unhappy. ♦️ Current inflation rates are the biggest factor in these strikes, as the currency loses its purchasing power, retailers, anyone offering services of any kind have to keep up with this loss of purchasing power but the salaries remain stagnant and the Romanian government still is incapable to accurately predict its salary associated costs despite being the biggest employer in the country overall through all of its institutions and agencies. πŸŽ™ Now, the prime-minister, Marcel Ciolacu, made his own threat of laying off those that are unhappy with the working conditions or their pay and giving raises to "only those that deserve them" πŸ“Œ This is a complex problem as the Romanian government cannot afford the salary raises demanded by its employees, but it cannot also raise the taxes, partly due to electoral concerns and even if it did, they will enter in force 6 months after being approved by the Parliament. So, the government gives a token raise to some but this will only anger those that did not get such a raise, because you cannot simply raise the salaries of just one branch of the government without giving something to the others. ♦️ The "budgetarians" as how the people employed directly by the government and its subordinate institutions are labelled, are well coordinated and when a certain group goes on strike, the others press their demands and then threaten to strike and if the government doesn't concede by now, they will join the strike. @Wallachian_Gazette

πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄βš οΈπŸ“ˆ At the end of March 2024, the Romanian government already recorded a 2% budget deficit, a deficit way bigger than expected. The Romanian government overspent by 36 billion Romanian lei, or 2% of the expected GDP of 1.700 billion Romanian lei (~340 billion EURs). If the government continues to spend at this rate, it will be impossible to reach the 5% deficit target. Prime minister, Marcel Ciolacu and finance minister, Marcel BoloΘ™, defended this overspending by blaming recent military acquisitions and infrastructure related spending which were scheduled to be paid this year according to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). In regards to the military spending, that is simply false: πŸ”Έ Romanian military spending has been on the decline since 2020 !! Yes, military spending is up, but only by 10% compared to the first three months of 2023 and it is mostly represented by delayed acquisitions which should've been done in the last months of 2023.If anything, Romania is behind its defense spending target. πŸ”Έ Infrastructure spending has increased by 7% and, worth remembering that some of these funds are not actually coming from the coffers of the ministry of finances but rather from Brussels. πŸ”Έ Actual overspending comes from salary and goods & services which rose by 20%, 9% bigger than the predicted spending. πŸ”— https://www.zf.ro/eveniment/de-unde-vine-deficitul-bugetar-record-din-primul-trimestru-din-2024-22384135

"Hallucinatory delirium in Moscow, they are very talented when it comes to interfering in the internal affairs of other countries, including the Republic of Moldova. Alexandru Piscan was caught filming a military convoy and other military installations near the city of Tulcea, 7 km away from the Ukrainian border and 18 km away from the city of Izmail (Ukraine). Piscan then sent the videos and photos to employees of the Russian embassy in Bucharest which warranted his arrest. A judge gave an order to detain him further for another 30 days being considered at risk of flight. πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄β˜¦οΈβš‘οΈ On the involvement of the Romanian Orthodox Church in the Romanian elections of 2024: ♦️ AUR member, theologian and conservative political figure, Mihail NeamΘ›u, drew attention to the lack of support coming from the Church to the political projects started by AUR, like the initiative to change the Romanian constitution to protect the institution of marriage. πŸŽ™ NeamΘ›u told at a public event (later published on his personal website): "For a bag of silver, the Church is content with being bribed and losing its prophetic vocation. The inheritance left by Ciolacu [Marcel, the prime-minister] is the submission of the Orthodox Church who is losing more and more of its power thus losing its prophetic vocation, for a bag of silver, content with being bribed by certain politicians. When the 2018 Referendum for the family took place, the Church who had a vested interest in passing the referendum was betrayed: the liberal and social-democratic mayors dropped the support for this referendum after receiving calls from Brussels, the foreign embassies, the European Commission and the crooks in Bucharest. These calls told them that a Christian Romania is not a country they want to live in. The goal is to create a new Tower of Babel in our country where masses of Asians are brought in to live together with the native, Moldavian, Wallachian and Transylvanian farmers. Romania must not lose her Christian identity!" ☦️ The Romanian Patriarch, His Beatitude, Daniel, of Romania, following protocol, forbade every member of the clergy from being involved in politics or with a political party, however this rule is not always respected. This is not about the priests who campaign for mayor in their local village as per the rules of the Church, they can do so but they are suspended from their duties as a priest in their local parish. ♦️ This is about the susceptibility of the Church to political pressure, pressure which forces it to do the bidding of the ruling parties. Some examples: Scientist and devout Orthodox, Virgiliu Gheorghe, told R3Media last March that there is "immense pressure" put on the Romanian Orthodox Church to sit idle and not join the grassroots "Coalition for the Family" which seeks to redo the 2018 Referendum for the Family. To this day the Romanian Orthodox Church has not publicly announced its support for the Coalition for the Family πŸŽ– Last week, the Metropolitan of Oltenia, His Eminence, Irineu, awarded the social-democrat mayor of TΓ’rgu-Jiu, Marcel Romanescu, with the highest distinction possible: The Cross of St. Nicodemus. Such distinctions should be kept for people of high moral standing right? Well.. Romanescu is far from being a saint. There are three investigations open on his name, alleging corruption, bribery and nepotism. Locals of TΓ’rgu-Jiu know the mayor as being "flamboyant", picturing himself smoking and present in the local nightlife in clubs but not a regular of the Divine Liturgy. In 2023 the city of TΓ’rgu-Jiu became infamous for a huge ad for a videochat studio placed right in the center of the city next to the central park where the sculptures of Constantin BrΓ’ncuΘ™i are kept (meaning the park is also a tourist attraction). Last year, Romanescu changed the management of the local theater naming a close associate as director. The new director is so incompetent that she caused some 15 actors in this small theater to resign and now resorts to paying other teams to come and play other pieces in TΓ’rgu-Jiu. One such play was a truly degenerate work where naked actors urinated on scene in this "new-age" play. This event cost the taxpayer 30k Romanian lei. ❓ What's next for the Church? The Church is financially dependent on the Romanian state and the strange silence on matters which are of great interest for her will continue for the foreseeable future, at least until the People's Salvation Cathedral is finished. Church hierarchs should remember what happened in Greece and the lack of a response from His Beatitude, Ieronymos II, Archbishop of Greece to the gay marriage bill. @Wallachian_Gazette

πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄βš–οΈβš‘οΈ 5 days ago, a high profile corruption case involving the former 2nd most powerful man in the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) and the former head of the SRI's legal department surfaced.
