Tajikistan Parliament Considers Withdrawal from ICC DUSHANBE Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament has considered a proposal to end the country’s participation in the International Criminal Court (ICC), following tensions over its decision not to arrest Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Dushanbe in 2025. The proposal was discussed at an extraordinary session on Sept. 16, the parliament’s press service said. Tajikistan has been a party to the Rome Statute since 2002. The European Union had accused Tajikistan of violating its international obligations by failing to enforce the ICC’s arrest warrant for President Putin during his visit. Saudi Arabia Asked China to Urge Iran to Rein in Houthi Forces, Reuters Sources Say Saudi Arabia has asked China to urge Iran to use its influence over Yemen’s Houthi forces to curb their attacks and advances, Reuters reported, citing three Iranian sources familiar with the matter. According to the sources, Riyadh turned to Beijing for help after the Houthis made recent advances along Yemen’s Red Sea coast and around the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, prompting China to convey a private message to Tehran. China asked Iran to use its influence over the Yemeni group to help prevent the conflict from spreading to vital energy and shipping routes, the sources said. It was not immediately clear whether the request was made during Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi’s visit to China or conveyed to Tehran through another channel.
