In fact, she stepped out of her comfort zone to participate in a pilot program to decentralise invoice processing - even though she doesnโ€™t have an accounting or finance background. With a patient mentor by her side, Vivienne conquered the steep learning curve with determination and resilience.   โ€œAt IRAS, the corporate culture is very positive. The learning curve is very steep, said Charles, Director of Advisory and Litigation Branch 2, who has made a career transition from accounting to tax law. From being an expert in research, to writing, to negotiation, and to making oral arguments in Court, the work can be challenging. โ€œThis is especially so for new legal officers. But learning comes from being curious about things. Personally, Iโ€™ve learnt a lot by doing extra research and reading for my own satisfaction,โ€ he added. His advice to honing your craft? โ€œInvest more in learning and practising โ€“ both at and outside of work.โ€ ๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿผ Check out our latest job openings at go.gov.sg/lifeatiras.
