Over 30 participants from 16 jurisdictions are participating in a CRS workshop today 🌎   Jointly organised by IRAS and the Global Forum Secretariat, the three-day workshop aims to assist jurisdictions in the Asia and the Pacific region in their efforts to ensure effective compliance of Reporting Financial Institutions with their due diligence, reporting and record-keeping obligations.    The workshop provides networking opportunities for peer learning and collaboration, enabling participants to share their experiences and insights. Participants are also involved in open discussions and practical exercises conducted by the knowledgeable staff from the Global Forum Secretariat.

IRAS has been monitoring the activities conducted by Social Media Influencers (SMIs) and has embarked on outreach programmes to inform and educate them of their tax reporting obligations since 2016.   IRAS has also conducted compliance activities on selected SMIs as well as other Digital Economy players to ensure that their tax declarations are in order. As part of these activities, we obtain information from various sources to verify the declarations submitted by taxpayers. Initial findings indicate that some taxpayers have not been cooperative and have provided incomplete and inaccurate information to IRAS. IRAS encourages all taxpayers to cooperate fully with us. Taxpayers who have inadvertently missed reporting any income or benefits received in the past are encouraged to come forward to correct their tax declarations.   Click here for information on SMIs and their tax obligations.
