Input Tax Credit (ITC) means businesses can deduct the GST they already paid on inputs (goods/services they buy to run their business) from the GST they charge customers. Suppose an insurance company pays ₹18 GST on office software (input). When it charges ₹100 GST to policyholders (output), it can deduct ₹18 and only pay ₹82 to the government. The GST Council waived GST on insurance premiums (so customers don’t pay GST). But at the same time, ITC has been withdrawn. That means insurers can no longer claim credit for the GST they pay on their own business expenses (like office rent, IT systems, marketing, reinsurance, etc.).

Last time, during RBI Grade B 2023, when I shared these compilations on a weekly basis, it helped many students gain an extra 5–6 marks in the GA section, and the compilation became an instant hit. Hopefully, we receive the same positive response this year as well. Since 10th July, I’ve been consistently sharing newspaper cuttings—either daily or with a delay of 2–3 days—on the @descriptive_bankexam channel. I intend to continue this series until RBI Grade B Phase I, and possibly for IRDAI, if the exam is announced. As you know, in RBI Grade B, General Awareness carries 80 marks, which makes this compilation even more valuable compared to other exams.
