It’s a good thing Todd isn’t involved at all with Kyle’s fundraising. Lin, I have a question for you.. What do you call it when a lawyer lies about being retained, fires two attorneys without the clients consent, threatens litigation to obtain a financial windfall to a non-profit the lawyer is the chairman of, then uses all that money to pay personal legal and security costs of the lawyer/chairman? Answer: CRIMINAL FRAUD What did you say to Chris Van Wagner when you unethically exercised authority over Kyle’s defense team to fire the two lawyers who questioned your decision to leave Kyle in jail? It was something like.. “Don’t let your bitterness at not being selected to represent Kyle cause you to do something stupid like tell Wendy and Kyle that I just fired you and threatened your career without authorization from Kyle or Wendy. Keep your mouth shut or I’ll lie some more and try to get you in trouble with your State Bar. Lastly, tell no one of our discussions where I tried to offer you money to keep your mouth shut and never question my decision to keep Kyle in jail again, even though I have no criminal law experience. Todd McMurtry has not sought legal advice from me since he and Nicholas Sandmann abruptly fired me without cause after I had reaped for them handsome financial rewards in libel cases against CNN and The Washington Post. So this advice to Todd is unsolicited and free of charge. Hey, Todd!!! Hire a lawyer and research whether it is a violation of ethical rules for a lawyer to be actively involved in fundraising efforts for a client when the donations will pay all or a portion of his fees and expenses incurred for legal services rendered by him for his client. I know legal ethics (despite false accusations to the contrary by various communist state BAR association grievance committees). The client can seek on his own to raise money for his or her lawyer’s fees. But it is unethical for the lawyer to be actively involved in any way with such fundraising efforts.
