Woden's Folk

If the mask is that of King Raedwald of the Wuffingas (Wulfingas) then the mask would unite in the one ruler the roles of Woden (Priest-Magician) and Ingwe (Sacral King).

On the Sutton Hoo Mask (click to enlarge) the 'Dancing Warriors' are shown with spears pointing at the heel (Heil) and Sole (Sol = Sun), and also Twin-Spears behind the two warriors. These, in fact, create a X-shape (Gyfu), but together with the arms of the warriors an Ing-Rune. In the guise of Ingvi-Frea Ingwe is a Sword-God, and the warriors each hold a Sword. Stephen Pollington has shown that the mask appears to be dedicated to Woden (the garnets around the right eye) but it may also be the case that it is also linked to Ingwe (as shown here and the Boar's Heads)(.

The nosepiece of the Sutton Hoo Mask is in the shape of the Irminsul. Together with the secret given to Brian Bates on the Kundalini Serpent, this emphasises the means of awakening the Fire-Serpent - the Vital Breath. The two 'beaks' of the bird-serpent meet at the Third Eye (URNA) which is the point of communication with the Gods. But here, rather than 'Ram's Horns' we have a Sacred Boar at the ends of the wings. (The wings can also be symbolic of the lungs, again linking this to the Vital Breath). The Serpent transforming into the Eagle is the key to the Transformation of Man to God-Man (Superman). This could be seen as an Ur-Rune moving from the base of the neck to the Third Eye. (This could also be the key to the 'Serpent Brain' and the 'Berserker-Rage' or 'Wolfish Rage'.)

IRMINSUL : This is the Pillar of IR, IRMIN, or AR-MAN. This is the Cosmic Axis with its point facing the North Pole or North Star. IR-ING ('Son of Ir') is the Milky Way, which branches in a similar way as the Irminsul - WAN-WIL-WEOH. The wings would originally have been the Swan's Wings, linked thus to Thule and to the Highest Initiation. At the base are three points, the three roots of the World Tree. On the top of the column is also what seem to be Ram's Horns.

HAEGL-RUNE : This version has an Ur-Rune and an inverted Ur-Rune combined as a bind-rune. Whereas the 'snowflake' version can be seen as a bindrune of Eohls (Life) and Calc (Death) this one has a single meaning of UR-RU, this being a reflection of the Earth (Ur-th) and the Other-Earth (Inner Earth). Linking this to the 'ancient homeland' of the Norwegian Rune-Poem this suggests At-al-land or Thule, in this case the emphasis may be on At-al-land. Whether we use the rune with twin-staves or a single stave, the symbolism is just the same.

KEN-RUNE : This rune is an 'Invocation of Fire', but it is also the rune that invokes the ancient Germanic Heil-Force. To do so the force is first imagined at the Hara-Centre (two inches below the navel) and is transmitted up the trunk and then along the arms, sent out through the (slightly-cupped) right hand. The belt-buckle is situated at the Hara-Centre and is symbolic of this centre.

A new rune-row, known only within Woden's Folk, was discovered through meditation by an Odin Initiate back in 2012. This rune-row developed out of the Listian Hag-All, emerging as Fiery-Runes on a Germanic Ing-Rune. It thus appears to be a continuation of the Armanen Runes, but in a very different way, since 11 of the 33 runes are based upon the Germanic Ing-Rune, linking this to Ingwe it would appear. This new rune-row also contains a Rune of Baeldaeg which suggests a link to the "resurrection of Baeldaeg' as the God of the Coming Golden Age.

In the Armanen System first devised by Guido von List the Haegl-Rune is the Hag-All or All-Hag and is the 'Mother Rune' from which all the Arman-Runes emerge. This is the same thing as that of the 'Nine Glory-Twigs' out of which the Ar-Kan Runes emerge. The Central Rune of the Nine Glory-Twigs is the Hagal-Rune, as well as the Gar-Rune, which links the Haegl with the Spear of Woden.
