John Giles strongly supported expanding Mesa’s photo-radar and red-light-camera programs. He voted for more cameras and aggressive enforcement, including using process servers to pursue violators. In 2018, he voted for a $1.87 million photo-radar contract. Giles later received at least five traffic citations in Mesa, including red-light-camera citations in 2021 and 2023 while serving as mayor. Both red-light cases were dismissed after a “90-day PE,” potentially involving failure to serve the summons, although the circumstances were not verified. Camera footage shows his Tesla running both red lights. Giles is now Gov.
