GAA transistors via DUV at IMECAS
Researchers at the Institute of Microelectronics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (IMECAS) successfully integrated gate-all-around (GAA) nanosheet transistors using DUV lithography. GitHub migrates 800,000 lines to Rust
GitHub has officially completed the migration of its Copilot runtime from TypeScript to Rust. This overhaul, finished over roughly three months, involved refactoring over 800,000 lines of production code using AI agents to assist with the port.

AMD's new ray tracing tech uses tetrahedral cages
AMD engineer Holger Gruen just demonstrated a technique that slashes ray tracing VRAM usage by 47 times, dropping BVH memory requirements from 80 GB to just 1.7 GB. This optimization allows the Radeon RX 9070 XT to handle 500 million animated polygons at 60+ FPS.
The core idea is swapping standard BVH updates for deformable tetrahedral cages. You encapsulate dense geometry in a cage; the cage moves, but the internal mesh and its structure remain static. Rays are transformed into the mesh's reference frame, bypassing the need for expensive per-frame geometry updates.
📍 90x faster BVH updates, dropping from 300ms to 3.3ms.
📍 Significant reduction in geometry overhead for complex scenes.
📍 Suitable for dense foliage or crowds where precise per-vertex deformation isn't required.
