Boards of Canada - Dayvan Cowboy

After 11 years, Boards of Canada uploaded a new video, "Dayvan Cowboy." This song was one of the first I heard from BOC, and I can say it profoundly changed my perspective, setting off a butterfly effect that shaped the person I am today. In my view, BOC didn't simply compose music; they deconstructed the assumptions and methodologies underpinning musical thought itself. This way of making music challenges notions of structure and predictability in music. This is what has made me think and experiment for many years, reimagining music for myself and creating better explanations and models of approach for making music that is more expansive in exploration and better in controlling sound. I see Eoin as a philosopher in creating complex dialogues into abstractions, and Sandison as a futuristic musician with a talent for creating unique sounds and textures. BOC shifted the focus from the aesthetic to the intellectual.
