St Brigid and the Cros Bride or St Brigid’s Cross
St Brigid and the Cros Bride or St Brigid’s Cross

“ The world still has its quota of sheep-stealers,cattle rustlers, predatory people and a multiplicity of human ailments. Citizens of the developed world , however, tend to look beyond the Communion of Saints, for example ,of our early Christian and pagan ancestors, for protection, redress and healing. Their sights tend to focus on institutions of the state, be they medical, legal or social. When these fail, there is a falling back on that which we call God. “ In the meditation this week, let's explore the spiritual heritage and legacy of Brigid, one of Ireland's best loved Irish saints . She shares much of the folklore and powers of a pre-Christian goddess of similar name. You are all very welcome to join our recorded meditation ( to be posted later on Friday 4th September, 2026 ) - as New Zealand celebrates the arrival of Spring , we will make a link with the first day of February, St Brigid's Day and the celebration of Imbolg, the Celtic Springtime festival 🌻
