Many years ago, Jan Crouch, the wife of Paul Crouch (founders of TBN - Trinity Broadcasting Network) told a heart-touching story. At a certain time in life, she suffered a form of mental condition that defied all manner of treatments. Then, in one of their programs, while still in that mental condition, she said she saw a little girl shabbily dressed. Obviously, the girl was also having a mental condition. Jan Crouch said her compassion went for the girl. Even though she had her own condition, she felt more for the girl than for herself. So, she went and embraced the girl and began to pray for her to be healed. Miraculously, at the end of the prayer, the girl was healed and she (Jan Crouch) was also healed at the same time. The truth is, if you have been in any form of prison, prison doors can open for you if only you can leave yourself for a while, and face another persons’ problem at the place of prayer. Intercession is an act of love, and nothing works like love. Love is stronger than death, for God Himself is Love (I John 4:8). So, when a person prays for someone out of deep love, what he is saying is, “Lord, I am in need but forget my own need and attend to this person first because he seems to have more problems than me. Please help this person”. Then God would say, “Alright, I will help both of you together”. My counsel is, make up your mind to pray for those in need even when it is obvious that you have your own challenges. Remember this: Intercession is an act of love, and nothing works like love. In the course of carrying blocks, the owner of the project site observed how different he was from the rest of the labourers. It seemed that since he had a Master’s Degree, he carried his own blocks in a master’s style; he carried his blocks with decorum while the other labourers carried theirs in agbero style, that is, locally, unprofessionally and without decorum. So, the owner of the construction site called him and told him, “You are different from all these people. Who are you?” He replied, “I am an Architect”. The site owner was amazed and said, “What! Archi-what? Architect? What level?” He replied that he had a Master’s Degree in Architecture. The owner of the project site asked again, “Masters in Architecture? Then what are you doing here carrying blocks as a labourer?” The young man said, “It is because there is no job, and I cannot be idle. So, I have to do something to pay my bills”. Immediately, the site owner made him the Project Architect. It is very interesting to know that this particular young man is now a billionaire and has many properties in town. This young man refused to be idle. He destroyed idleness by doing what he found and today, God has lifted him. Beloved, by all means, destroy idleness in your life. PASTOR PAUL ENENCHE.* DATE: *SUNDAY 9TH JULY, 2023.* TOPIC: *BE CAREFUL SO YOU DON’T FALL.* SCRIPTURE: _If you think you are standing firm you had better be careful that you do not fall._ 1 CORINTHIANS 10:12 (GNT) THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: *Being careful is key to standing firm in life.* Sometime ago, there was this vibrant Christian brother on fire who always prayed every 12 midnight. Then he decided to assist a sister who had accommodation challenge to live with him in his apartment pending when she got her own accommodation. As they began to live together, the first and second nights the lady stayed with him, the midnight prayer voice of the brother was still heard in the neighbourhood as usual. But by the third night, the volume of his voice began to reduce, and later, his voice was no longer heard at midnight again. This was how he lost his spiritual fire. What happened to him? Your guess is as good as mine. What kind of overconfidence was that? That was a foolish risk. Similarly, there was a young Christian lady who preached a hot and fireful message of salvation to a former boyfriend of hers. Then the man said to her, “Your message is very interesting. Please come and tell me more about this Gospel of Salvation in the hotel where I am lodged”. Foolishly, the lady followed him to his hotel room. And at the end, they both ended up in immorality. It turned out that it was the former boyfriend who “preached” to her at the end. What is my counsel to you? Be careful so you don’t fall. Decide to stand firm with God by being careful. Avoid over-confidence in your walk with God. It is a journey, not a destination, and at every given point, you are still a learner (1 Corinthians 10:12). If you have fallen before, you may fall again if care is not taken. If you were in the mud before, you could enter it again if you are not careful. Being careful is key to standing firm in life. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom._ ECCLESIASTES 9:10 (NLT) THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: *Paying attention to details is a pathway to greatness.* I was in a flight one day with some pilots and one of them took me to the cockpit of the aircraft. He kept me at the cockpit and I was wondering why he kept me there. After a while, the pilot began to tell me some things about the aircraft. He said to me, “You see this one, it is for this. The function of that one is this.” Now, one of the things that moved me when he was talking to me was that he brought out a list of about thirty things. So, I asked, “What is this?” He said, “It is a check list.” Then he continued, “Before you take the aircraft off the ground, you must tick all the items on the checklist and ensure that they are all in perfect shape”. This means you ensure that the hydraulics of the aircraft is in good shape, and you tick it. Then you check the aircraft’s landing gear and ensure it is in a perfect condition, and then you tick it in the checklist. All the thirty items on the checklist must be checked and ticked appropriately. You must confirm that none of the things on the checklist has a challenge. When this is done, then you can take the aircraft from the ground into the air. These items must be properly checked because there is no mechanic in the air to repair the aircraft when it develops a fault while flying. Beloved, as it is with the aircraft, so it is with all other endeavours of life. So, you must pay attention to details in whatever you do in life.
