Gold is still just under $4,000, close to its lowest level in three months. Reuters had spot at $3,987.45, down 0.2%
Main driver: On Saturday the Houthis said they attacked Saudi oil sites, though the damage isn’t confirmed. US oil rose to its highest level in over five months. That raised inflation worries and bets that the Fed will hike rates, which is weighing on gold.
Fed pricing: Markets see about a 91% chance the Fed holds rates this week and about a 79% chance of a hike in December.
Today: No major US data and no Fed speakers. German Ifo is at about 2:30 PM IST, which is its usual time; the sources didn’t confirm it.
This week: The Fed decision is Wednesday at 11:30 PM IST, and US Q3 GDP and inflation (PCE) data come out Thursday at 6:00 PM IST.
