A few days back I had shared a Note on India and ILO relations for the EPFO exam. In today's APFC Paper, "as it is" a question was asked from that note. 😁

Concept of the day (Polity) Rules of 'Political Clearance' - This is a prior approval for travelling abroad which is given by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and is required not just for Politicians but for any government servant who is seeking to go abroad. Without this clearance, no public servant can travel overseas. - CMs, Ministers from States and UTs need clearance from MEA. - Union ministers need clearance from the Prime Minister’s Office in addition to the political clearance from the MEA for both official and personal trips. - Members of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha need clearance from the Speaker and Chairperson (Vice President of India) respectively, but only if the trip is official. - For government employees, all foreign trips, official or personal, need approval. ( For officers up to the rank of Joint Secretary, clearance is given by the Minister concerned, after the MEA’s political clearance. For officers above that rank, the proposal is approved by a screening committee of secretaries.) - For official visits, a judge of the Supreme Court or a state High Court has to send the proposal to the Department of Justice in the Union Ministry of Law and Justice after obtaining clearance from the Chief Justice of India. #upsc #polity #prelims2024 @ibrarclasses

Concept of the day (Modern History) Who were Renoncants and Sujets in French Settlements in India? - In the former French settlements in India (Pondicherry, Karaikal, Mahe, Yanam and Chandranagore), there were two categories of French nationals. One was the 'Renoncants’ and the other ‘Sujets’ (subjects). - The Renoncants enjoyed the same status as that of the French people; they were treated on par with the people of France with regard to pay, facilities for work in any French colony; but they had to do compulsory military service for two years and have a French name added to their name irrespective of the religion or community they belonged to. - The Sujets were treated as locals and were allowed to work only in the French settlements in India. They were not expected to do any military service and their pay and other things were decided locally and were different from those of the Renoncants. #upsc #modernhistory
