Heaven got a little sweeter today. Stacy and I took Sable into our family 15+ years ago, just right after we had Charlotte. My buddy, Tim, called and asked if I could take her because I had a dog of the same breed before and he knew that I loved them for so many reasons. Sable’s original owner passed in a car accident and the widow at the time was unable to care for her because of the tragic loss. We easily said yes after meeting her, and I remember reading her tag on her collar. It said, Sable - One Sweet Dog. She was exactly that, sweet as pie. She did not have one mean or aggressive bone in her body. She loved on so many people who had fears of dogs and more specifically, of the pit-bull breed. Sable gave to our family more than what we could have given her. We were lucky to have her as a pet, and I’m blessed for all the lessons she has taught me and my kids. As Lin, says, it’s no coincidence that dog spelled backwards is God. Man’s best friend has a way of reminding us of what unconditional love and selflessness can look like.
