In March, when I was in Washington DC, I read a collection of linked stories by American (Minnesotan 💪🏻) novelist Tim O'Brien. It's about a group of American soldiers who fought together in the Vietnam War. I loved the process. Why? Because I visited so many memorials dedicated to the Vietnam War in Washington DC, which is why I was super into reading the book every day. The primary theme in the novel The Things They Carried is the burdens we all carry. The first chapter of the novel is devoted to the physicals and emotional burdens the men carried with them as they marched: the guns, the gear, the photos, the letters, the hope, the fear, the memories, and the guilt. I'm not gonna lie but there was a soldier who carried condoms too. You know why? 'Cuz soldiers rape innocent women of the nation that they are fighting against. As a perfect example, we can refer to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Putin didn't necessarily issue an order for his soldiers to rape Ukrainian women and girls. @java_america

In March, I enjoyed reading The Catcher in The Rye. Mr. Flory and I absolutely loved it. Most people detest this book and its author because the use of curse words is pretty common. I mean, most importantly, the book has so many true stories, facts about society and its "phoniness". If you have read the book, you should understand what that word is. So, The Catcher in the Rye is a novel by J. D. Salinger. It was partially published because he wrote the book during World War II. Can you imagine writing books in trenches? Can you imagine how challenging it was to write a book on a hard cold ground, being hungry and thirsty? He managed to finish one, though. The Catcher in the Rye takes the loss of innocence as its primary concern. Holden, the protagonist, wants to be the “catcher in the rye”—someone who saves children from falling off a cliff, which can be understood as a metaphor for entering adulthood. This novel is on my Top 5 Books I have ever read. Do read it if you have time. @java_america

Since January, I haven't been talking about anything regarding what books I am reading. Here we go! In February, I read a memoir by Mary brave called Lakota Woman. She describes her childhood and how she participated in the American Indian Movement. As a young adult, she fights for justice and against discrimination towards the indigenous people of America. Mary also tells how American Indians at Church schools got raped by priests, and their children were thrown in schools' basements to die. That's shocking. I highly recommend you to read this memoir as it helps you understand what kind of difficulties and atrocities small minorities had to deal with in the United States. @java_america

365 days ago... I woke up early that morning. I got a notification. I was told that I was selected as a Future Leaders Exchange Program Finalist. "Congratulations! You are a FLEX Finalist now!" These words have been the sweetest words I have ever heard in my life so far. I had never felt elated that much before. I could not describe how grateful I was to God. When I was having that joy, I remembered every hard work that I had done, 3 years of active learning the English language, so much effort that I had committed to become a FLEX Finalist. I just smiled. I said a big "Thank You!" to each and every one who had been extremely supportive of me throughout those years, to the ones who never stopped believing in me but kept inspiring me to achieve my goals and realize my full potential.

Alright, long time no talk on this channel. I have been doing marvelous. The fourth quarter has started. I have pretty decent classes this time. Block 1: Human Geography Block 2: English Block 3: Improvisation D Block 4: History of Mythology Each class is engaging and intriguing. Also, I have made friends with everyone in my Improv (Improvisation) class. They are really friendly and funny. Other than that, I have started doing TikTok. It's been awesome. I am enjoying making videos. There are dozens of videos coming up pretty soon. I am sharing some of 'em everyday. Y'all already know that I am going to change host families in May, so my new host family told me that they want to go on family vacation to California after my school graduation (May 27th). I am pretty excited. When I was in Hawaii with my current host family, I was so dissatisfied with myself since I couldn't vlog as I wanted to. Now, I have another opportunity to do that, which is why I am so happy!
