Reality is ultimately a selective act of perception and interpretation. Through story # Once a baby lamb was going with his mother. They were walking on a jungle road when all of a sudden they saw a tiger approaching them from the front. It appeared the tiger was either hungry or sick and therefore it was growling off and on. Upon seeing the hungry tiger both mother and the baby lamb froze, and stood on the road quietly as there was no time to hide. The tiger in meantime kept walking towards them. The mother lamb signalled the baby lamb to remain quiet. Soaked in fraught she started getting horrible thoughts of they being, eaten up, by the hungry tiger. She decided she would offer herself to the tiger first, and in exchange plead, to let go, her baby lamb. With all these terrifying thoughts they were now waiting for the tiger to attack them. When the tiger was about twenty feet away there was a gush of strong breeze announcing a dust storm but the tiger was undeterred and kept walking towards them. Both mother and the baby were now shivering out of fear, but to their utter surprise the tiger soon went past them, when suddenly, a fowl ran out of the bushes that was close to the tiger. There was flapping of wings resulting in commotion. The tiger upon hearing the flapping sound, ran after the fowl and managed to lay his paw on the bird and killed it on the spot. In the meanwhile, the frightened mother and the baby lamb, tiptoed their way back to their home. Can one guess, as to why, the mother and the baby lamb were given a gift of life by the tiger? The fact is, that the tiger was blind so he couldn’t see the baby lamb and his mother standing there, and when he was about twenty feet away from the mother and the lamb, God created a dust storm to stop the body smell of the mother and baby lamb to reach the tiger. But the unfortunate fowl who was sitting pretty behind the bushes did not know that the tiger was blind even when he saw the tiger walking past the baby lamb and the mother, and so, he ran, out of the bush, to save himself, thinking that the tiger had seen him. But sadly for the fowl, the tiger could kill him only because of his sense of sound—the flapping of wings, as even his faculty to smell had momentarily vanished in the dust storm and of course he was blind. The moral of the story is “Stop worrying and never jump to fast conclusions for there could be a humongous difference between perception, optics and reality. Think of all possibilities before taking a leap

"IF AGRICULTURE GOES WRONG, NOTHING ELSE WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GO RIGHT IN THE COUNTRY." Context: India was and is a land of agriculture. Agriculture is the most important sector of the Indian economy and is considered its backbone. Nearly half the population of India is dependent on agriculture for its livelihood as this Sector provides employment to nearly half a billion people, either directly or indirectly. Introduction: It has been some 12 000 years since humans gave up their hunter gatherer ways. They grasped the idea of saving and planting seeds from season to season, which meant that instead of constantly foraging for food, they could stay in one place. They were able to concentrate on building their communities and, at the same time, develop agricultural systems adapted to local climates that allowed them to survive and even flourish in the lands where they settled. With each generation improving upon the previous, these ingenious systems have brought with them the indigenous knowledge of the centuries.

Ethical whistleblowing Julian Assange, WikiLeaks founder, pleaded guilty to obtaining and publishing U.S. military secrets in a deal with the U.S. Justice Department, allowing him to avoid American prison and return to Australia. The agreement required Assange to admit guilt to a single felony but considered his five years spent in a UK prison. Assange expressed mixed feelings about the outcome, while his lawyer highlighted concerns for press freedom. The case involved publishing classified documents and raising issues about national security and journalism.   Ethical issues in the WikiLeaks case:  Public right to information vs. government need for confidentiality: Balancing citizens’ right to know about government actions and the government’s necessity to uphold confidentiality in matters of national security. Protection of whistle-blowers vs. national security: Safeguarding individuals who expose wrongdoing while considering threats to national security. Media responsibility in handling classified information: The media’s moral duty is to inform the public about government actions while handling dangerous or sensitive information responsibly.   Ethical values demonstrated by Julian Assange: Julian Assange demonstrated ethical values of transparency and accountability by exposing government secrets and military misconduct, emphasizing the public’s right to know. He also highlighted the importance of press freedom and challenged the boundaries of journalistic responsibility in the digital age.

Humility Humility is the quality of being modest and respectful, acknowledging one’s limitations and valuing others’ perspectives. Example: A scientist, despite their expertise, listens carefully to a colleague’s new theory, considering it with an open mind instead of dismissing it outright, recognizing that they don’t have all the answers.   Current State of Political Discourse Political discourse is dominated by personal attacks rather than relevant issue discussions. TRP-driven media fuels verbal harassment, turning debates into gladiatorial contests focused on aggression over constructive dialogue. This trend, prevalent in liberal democracies, teaches citizens to value harsh comments over meaningful discussions on public welfare.   Need for Humility in Public Discourse 1 Promotes Respectful Dialogue: Encourages listening and valuing different viewpoints. 2 Reduces Polarization: Minimizes personal attacks and hate speech. 3 Fosters Understanding: Acknowledges one’s own limitations and others’ perspectives. 4 Encourages Constructive Criticism: Focuses on issues rather than personal attacks. 5 Enhances Cooperation: Builds bridges between different societal sections.   Importance of Virtues in Politics  Virtues like humility and care are vital for democratic discourse, as highlighted by thinkers like Montesquieu, who advocated for education to prioritize public over private interests. The decline in character training in modern politics has shifted focus to individual achievement over collective well-being. Charles Taylor and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar also emphasized that good governance relies on the virtues of leaders.   Traditional Indian Thought on Knowledge and Character  Traditional Indian thought sees knowledge as a moral, collective endeavour, emphasizing character. The Mahabharata highlights the importance of humility and care in acquiring knowledge. Prof. Vrinda Dalmiya illustrates this with Sage Kausika learning from a butcher and a housewife, showing that humility enhances understanding.

Wisdom of knowing when to move ahead Knowing when to make a move takes years of experience, and a wide-lens view of where you are in life. In fact, millennial may be more susceptible to this type of “free spirit” behavior, because the generation grew up with high expectations for themselves and parents that tend to encourage them to “shoot for the moon.” Those who tend to be creative or independent are likely to fi t this pattern, they want careers that allow them to express who they are. Thus, these career moves and plethora of interests may encourage young people to move around even more.

The only answer to climate change is “change” 🧤It is the greatest of all mistakes to do nothing because you can do only little. – Sydney Smith 🧤 If you think environment is less important than money, try counting your wealth while holding your breath – Anonymous 🧤We shall need a substantially new way of thinking if humanity is to survive. – Albert Einstein 🧤I am not a scientist, but I don’t need to be. Because the world scientifi c community has spoken, and they have given us our prognosis. If we do not act together, we will surely perish. Now is our moment for action. – Leonardo DeCaprio (UN Climate Summit) 🧤First establish that climate change is happening and accelerating. The essay should revolve around what “change” is required and how can it be accomplished. This change in approach to mitigate and combat climate change must include both individual efforts and joint efforts. 🧤 In the main body establish that climate change is an adverse problem posing global threat. Support your stance with reports and facts to show how climate change is happening. IPCC reports can be quoted here. Mention the hint of causes and problems arising out of climate change. 🧤 Elaborate the causes and problems in the main body. Also discuss the efforts made in the past but were not so fruitful in mitigating climate change. Hence, the need for change is to be justifi ed. 🧤In presenting facts and data, stick to reports of offi cial bodies like UN bodies and Government of India. 🧤Main focus should be on anthropogenic factors. Mention ‘anthropocene era’ declared by scientists, to establish role of human hand in causing climate change. 🧤 Finally sum up with steps needed to establish a balance between development and environmental conservation for the well being of human beings.

Yesterday’s score doesn’t win you game today. This topic is tricky, because its writing would depend on the interpretation, which can vary from person to person, however, one way to cross-check that the interpretation is correct is to see if you can expand the dimensions without making mutually conflicting points. In this case the most general interpretation is one shouldn’t try to predict the future course of action by past experience merely. It is a statement given in context of sports, but has wider implications in life in every sphere. People, countries, institutions, or other entities, tend to get influenced by history a lot, whereas forgetting the fact that results are subject to certain conditions, and those can change over time. For example, if a country had bad experience with economic reforms once, like India in 1985 Exim policy, it shouldn’t mean they shall stop from reforming in future. India in 1991 further opened up despite bad experience in 1985, which already had worsened the BoP situation, but we went ahead and were also successful. Also discuss the general importance of history, that history has valuable lessons for us and we shouldn’t ignore it either. We need to make sure, it doesn’t become the determining factor in our decisions, and remain merely a tool. Most important of Example in today’s context is India China relations and Chinese foreign policy China claims lot of territories from its neighbours, on the basis of its ancient maps. Which has led to number of disputes, which include, South China Sea, Arunachal Pradesh, Doklam, etc. This is an absurd approach as we can’t claim territories today on the basis of some ancient maps, for example, if India will start doing so, it will have disputes with Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Java, Bali, Cambodia, Nepal, etc, because they were all Indian territory once, for certain period. Similarly, China should underestimate India and make references to 1962 results, in the context of Doklam crisis. They made advance, believing the past passive response and are now caught in a quagmire after strong and decisive confrontation from India. Past failures shouldn’t kill the spirit of person (Psychological Perspective) Explain this with help of success stories as example. Retributive justice is based on very idea to make a person atone/suffer for past acts without giving them chance of reforms. However, modern justice is based on reformative principles and considered to be better than former. Thus, we must get over past. Each game is a new beginning and irrespective of how well a person did in previous game/version, he can’t be complacent in next. In politics, there is no permeant enemy or friend, because they always keep all possible options open, and doesn’t have a trust or loyalty factor influencing them too much. Thus, politics is not a respected phenomenon. Thus, while we should be governed by history, we shall not become too opportunistic as well. Thus, history has a role and importance and we must not forget its lessons and experience. Make a general assertion about day to day life, that we shouldn’t be biased or prejudiced against others and the very idiom that first impression is the last impression, may be practically followed, but is bad in principle and sometimes people have to suffer because of that. Sum-up and give a balance perspective on past experiences. While is important and relevant, it shall not influence, much.

Many men go fi shing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after. This essay is tricky as there can be many interpretations of the topic from nihilism (buddhist mahayana) to transcendentalism (bhagvad geeta), etc, to psychological perspective and modern life. The best approach for such topic is to treat it as a general statement when asked in essay and not to apply any specifi c and specialized knowledge to it, as that would restrict the scope of essay. The best interpretation of this should be one, which doesn’t require any specifi c context and here the closest would be, Journey is more important than destination…. Here most important is to explain the given statement and it can be elaborated on following lines: There is an old saying, “nobody buys a drill, because they want a drill, they buy one because they want a hole.” It is not always what you want, but what you ultimately need that drives our desires. “Many men go fi shing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fi sh they are after.” For the commercial fi sherman, it is a living he is after. It is money to have a home and to feed his family. For the casual fi sherman, it is often the getting away from busy life or the solitude of a mountain stream. People often think “they are going fi shing”, but in reality, they are seeking something that fulfi lls their life and their dreams. Similarly, if we can develop this understanding, we can live a very fulfi lled and satisfied life. After explaining the meaning of the title, you must get into various dimensions and perspectives, from which it shall be covered. It is important to understand what we want from life and choose career accordingly. For example, someone who want excitement and thrill in life, would be unhappy in a desk job. Unfortunately, most people never do that and realize it too late in their career and spend unsatisfi ed life, as its too difficult to quit by then. In life, we sometimes try so hard to accomplish things and gain status that we tend to forget what we are really after is happiness. People often believe that certain things will bring them happiness such as money, jobs, and material possessions. However, after they acquire these things instead of feeling contentment they feel a sense of emptiness. We are not satisfi ed in general and always keep revising our goals, a small car grows to a big car to luxury car, but the state of mind of its owner remains the same, i.e., what’s next… We look forward to new things, as if they will provide satisfaction, however, as soon as we get them and realize, it didn’t make us satisfi ed, we target something more ambitious. Most of the time, people seek escape through holidays and vacation, but it mostly leaves people, without much satisfaction, as they live same way during vacations too, from going for shopping to rushing to cover maximum landmarks, while completely forgetting its not landmarks they are after, but break from the urban or monotonous life. Similarly, many different interpretations can be made in religious terms and philosophical terms, but they are not necessary, if you can add them, it adds to the richness of essay, but not including them won’t also cost much in terms of marks. Here, link this to few of the contemporary problems and establish that this statement is ageless and valid equally today. For example: growing reliance on gadgets in life: From being a mean to an end, when gadgets became an end in themselves, is an interesting example that emphasize the importance of given topic. From using technology to getting consumed by technology and spending and hours and hours each day for same is a big issue which is affecting people’s relationships, health, and mental well-being.
