Happy & Blessed Saturday Friends! The VanDeWater Homestead at Liberty Hill Farm Baby House Finches Update What a joyous pleasure watching these little babies grow. Since the nest is right outside our kitchen window, we're able to catch all the action. We noticed when they hatched, see Mom and Dad coming and going to feed, hear them chirping and once in awhile we see a little head pop up looking around, wondering what the world is like outside the nest. Soon enough little ones! I will say, these House Finches are messy! We're going to have some cleanup when they do fly away. But, so worth it for this amazing experience and close up encounter. Such a privilege and honor to be given this front row seat of this miraculous wonder. To be chosen as a safe place by the House Finches to raise the young is truly uplifting. Happy & Blessed Friday Friends! Yesterday was school picnic day with my sister and nephew. Oh the fun! They live in northern Vermont, about an hour and a half drive from The VanDeWater Homestead at Liberty Hill Farm. And what a lovely drive. The green mountains of Vermont, the country setting, farms and old churches. It's like stepping back in time. Every year before, we have endured some cold, windy, rainy picnic days. Yesterday was absolutely beautiful. Great for the little ones to swim, play games and hike. Which Jordan and I did. He was adorable, Aunt Jen how about a selfie here, this background looks like a great spot for a picture. Oh the pictures we took. It was a beautiful nature trail that followed the soothing babbling stream. I asked Jordan what was his favorite and he said our hike. Making a lasting impact and wonderful memories! Happy & Blessed Wednesday Friends! Our Vermont Adventure Monday the weather was perfect for a hike through the Green Mountains National Forest in VT. We packed up and off we went. Sammy was thrilled. He knew what was coming and couldn't wait. When we arrived at a familiar spot, the bugs were intense. We knew this wouldn't be the place, so we moved on and oh so glad we did. We found a nice hike that lead to a pond with rustic campsites. How have we missed this place before! The sounds only of nature, the refreshing waters, butterflies everywhere, so soothing. We stopped at campsite 1. Had our snacks. Put our feet in the water. And just sat. All while enjoying the fresh scent of balsam fir. It's always tough to leave such a majestic place. As we hiked back. I paused a few times, looking around, thanking God for the beauty of creation and the ability to explore in it. Nothing compares!
