The next time you are at Burjuman Metro Station, look for this neat workspace β WO-RK. The brightly coloured spaces offer commuters an office inside one of Dubaiβs busiest metro stations. Commuters can work on the go, with rates starting from Dh35 per day. Named WO-RK, the workspace opened its doors to the public on Tuesday, June 25, in partnership with the Roads and Transport Authority Dubai (RTA).

Nearly half of UAE employers say expats flocking to country without jobs in hand
Nearly half β 49 per cent β of UAE employers say that many expatriates flocking to the UAE are immigrating without a job in hand, according to a new study released by recruitment firm Robert Half on Tuesday.
Many people used to come to the UAE on a visit visa β usually a three-month visa β in search of greener pastures in the Emirates. Those who were lucky and landed a job were issued an employment visa, but those who couldnβt find a job returned to their home countries or accepted jobs with lower pay.

Dubai summer: Students can now get military training, horse riding lessons from police
Students, aged 11 to 18, can now learn scuba diving, horseback riding, and receive military training in upcoming summer courses by Dubai Police starting next Monday, July 1. The courses are open to students from both private and public schools, and from all nationalities.
The programme is part of Dubai Police's Hemaya International Center initiative to equip students with valuable social and life skills. It aims to instil values of discipline, organisation, and responsibility.

2 children die after fire erupts in Fujairah home
Two Emirati children, an 8-year old girl and a 7-year-old boy, have died in a fire at their home in Fujairah. Authorities have rescued a` 5-year-old child who has been seriously injured.
The Civil Defence Operating Room received a report at 2am on Tuesday, June 25 of a blaze having broken out in the home located in Al Tuwiyain. Civil Defence teams reached the home immediately and began taking action. They secured the house, started treating the injured and sent them to Dibba Hospital for further treatment.

A large fire broke out in Dubai's Jebel Ali on Monday afternoon.
The blaze was reported in Wasl Gate, a residential and commercial development in the district, shortly before 2pm.
The fire erupted at a building under construction and sent thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky.

Abu Dhabi to increase number of NGOs to tackle social issues
Abu Dhabi is planning an expansion of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to help tackle social challenges, a senior official has said.
An increase in the number of voluntary organisations will help the emirate address issues such as elderly care, getting more people to exercise regularly and family stability, said Helal Al Balooshi, executive director of the Community Engagement and Sports Sector at the Department of Community Development (DCD).
