The cops said on the news that he was given lawful orders and it is ok to punch someone in the face or anywhere as a distraction technique to get someone to comply with lawful orders. I would like to know what the lawful orders were.....

According to GRPD, during a traffic stop officers noticed the front-seat passenger was not wearing a seatbelt and repeatedly refused to provide identification. Officers ordered him out, but he continued resisting by bracing himself inside the car with his legs. During the struggle, officers struck the passenger until he exited, injuring an officer who suffered a broken leg and torn ligament. By that definition, a ceasefire seems to mean that one side keeps doing whatever it wants while the other side is expected to sit quietly and applaud.
