Voter ID This Brennan Center for Justice 2006 study is an often cited source for the folks AGAINST Voter ID laws. The study link is below and you have to read the footnotes. This was a phone survey of 987 people that resulted in a 95% confidence level with an accuracy range between 2-8% depending the on the question that was asked. From the 987 phone respondents, they then project that 13MM people do not have….READY ACCESS……to proof of citizenship documents. 13MM people cannot…..EASILY PRODUCE….proof of citizenship. Ready Access? Easily Produce? What kind of survey question is that? For this particular question, this means in the phone survey they did not have a PASSPORT, NATURALIZATION PAPERS or a BIRTH CERTIFICATE. OK….let me ask a stupid question, because I am just a dumb deplorable. Why did you not ask if they had a DRIVERS LICENSE? How about this one….Only 48% of women have….READY ACCESS…to a birth certificate with their current legal name. I am curious for the women reading this. The think tank National Vote at Home Institute (yes, they do exist) is kind enough to provide a spreadsheet model of how many hours it takes to process a given amount of mail in ballots using machines counts or manual counts. Linked below. Apparently, according to their model, a fully MANUAL count of 100,000 ballots would take 2,586 hours. The automated machine count would take 1,314 hours. So, the top conclusions for me are 1. Even with machines, you still need a non-trivial amount of staff hours 2. You should weigh the value of the staff hours versus the cost of the machines over time 3. The machines, according to the model, reduce the staff hours by ~ 50% 4.
