Urbanization in Bihar 4. Bihar only has 17% of urban areas while the national average is around 37%. - Only 6 districts (Patna, Rohtas, Muzaffarpur, Begusarai, Munger, Bhagalpur) exceed the state’s average per capita income, exposing low urbanisation and large urban-rural divides .

Regional Disparities: Patna’s Prosperity vs. Rural Neglect 3. While 83% of Bihar is rural area, Patna remains Bihar’s economic hub with a per capita GSDP of ₹1,15,000 (2021-22), 6x higher than the least-developed district, Sheohar (₹19000) and 2x state’s average per capita income(₹60000), exposing urban-rural divides .

Inequality in Bihar 2. The Bihar caste survey, 2022 highlights that 64% of families are earning less than 10000 rupees per month while only 4% of families are earning more than 50000 per month.
