Been very fortunate to play with some amazingly talented musicians over the years and none more amazing than Lucius Borich and Matthew Armitage. We went into the recording studio recently to put down some tracks for a new single or EP or maybe it’ll even turn into an album, who knows. But what is definite is the fun we had and the fantastic sound of a band playing live together. Will be finishing the recording and mix soon hopefully and maybe debut these tracks at the Free The Nation Music Flood Relief Festival on Saturday 9th April. Free The Nation Music presents a special private live music event on Saturday 9th April from 2pm – 10pm at an historic venue in Byron Bay, Hinterland, NSW, Australia. Like many in the Northern Rivers, musicians here have been hit hard by the floods and, before that, two years of cancelled gigs and overreaching government restrictions. This special day provides paying gigs for local musicians directly impacted by the floods, and will help lift the spirits of the whole community. The first gig I did after moving from Healesville to Mullumbimby was at my friend, Irene’s house. I offered to come play a few songs at her place where she had her Gelato bus set up, around the time the corporate governments were trying to control every aspect of our lives including how we should gather and share music. Irene and I reckon that’s up to you. You have the right to choose where you go to listen to some music and maybe have a nice ice-cream or some cake—or whatever you want. So when Irene’s home in Mullumbimby was flooded recently it reminded me of that gig I did, where a bunch of freedom loving folk got together to share community. Yesterday, thanks to your generous donations, I was able to hand over an envelope of cash as a contribution towards Irene rebuilding her home, which as you’ll see in this video, was hit hard by the flood. Can anyone donate a laptop computer to the emergency accommodation team at Civic Hall, Mullumbimby? The volunteers are working in shifts on their personal computers and need a central, dedicated computer to enable all equal access to data, especially on shift change overs. They are finding accommodation for women, men and children, who have lost everything in the floods. Drop it off to Kathryn (on the right) in this tent today. Thanks 🙏 PS. Most volunteers seem to be working on Macs but I’m sure any laptop computer would be appreciated and put to immediate use.

Countless families in the Northern Rivers have been devastated by the floods, many losing most of their household possessions. EFTPOS, internet and phone lines are down, or intermittent. One kind person on Instagram offered to send money to help so I am going to give her my bank details then take whatever she sends directly to one of our friends in need right now. Beachfront suburb of South Golden Beach literally just down the road from our home in the Northern Rivers, NSW today. Went to check in on some friends and fortunately we could drive (just) to their house. No damage there but other friends not so lucky. Will be a time for helping, healing and coming together over coming days, weeks and months in our community, and neighbouring towns like Mullumbimby, Murwillumbah, Lismore and more.
