Big thanks to Fred from Lockdown News for an excellent article, helping to share the 'music freedom' and 'freedom music' movements! https://lockdownnews.com.au/2021/10/13/music-ben-mitchell-sings-for-the-freedom-movement/
Brilliant chat with Pete Evans today for his podcast.
We discussed music, activism, and he asked me to share about what inspired Free The Nation Music and more.
Such a brave and generous soul, his spirit of openness and humility brought out the best in meāI even got a bit emotional (teary!) at the end of our interview.
Guess Iām a softy for love.
Watch this space for news about when the interview goes live on Evolve TV Network š
PS. Pete said he wore that āWild & Freeā Tee especially for me. Not sure if it was for the wild or the free part. Hopefully both.
Love, freedom and choice are powerful.
We can choose love and freedom everyday. No matter what comes.
Love. Freedom. Choice.
When the world seems crazy and unjust how can you make a contribution without giving in to the anger and rage all around?
How do you keep your cool? How do you whisper a shout?
How can you sleep at night
When you canāt put the world right?
How can you carry on
When so much seems so wrong?
What will I tell my kids
When they say
āDad, what did you do about it?ā
Well I tried to figure out
How to whisper, to whisper a shout

Is this song so dangerous to the establishment that Bandcamp deleted it and erased all of my musicādeplatforming me completely?
Free The Nation, a simple folk song? About love and being free?

After Bandcamp last week erased my pageāwhere I make most of my sales for musicāwithout warning or any communication, it motivated me to update my website shop. So, thanks censorship Nazis!
With freedom of expression on my mind I created this special āFreedomā pack which includes my latest album, single and three extra singles, including āGodās Land For Everyoneā which is right now exclusively available in this pack.
The special āFreedomā pack is available for immediate digital download after purchase. You also get an automatic email with links to the (unlimited) downloads.
Get āem while theyāre hot! Also, while we still have the internet!!

Musicians of the world take note: Bandcamp erased my entire catalogue overnight.
Without a single message or any warning. Without a single reply to any of my multiple, polite, enquiries why.
Was it my 'Free The Nation' single? Was it the 'Are You Gonna Be Free?' album? Who knows? One thing for sure: Bandcamp censors.
And apparently they think nothing of wiping away your income without a single warning or explanation.
Am working on alternative sales options for my music. Still available on Apple and Spotify to listen.
And I have just set up a SPECIAL EDITION digital pack for Free The Nation for $10 which comes with cool bonus items (delivered digitally immediately) here: https://howtobooks.samcart.com/products/free-the-nation-special-edition
Yesterday I was invited to share with our local community the positive developments about Free The Nation Music, the campaign I started to promote segregation-free, inclusive for all gigs by bringing together musicians and music fans who support freedom.
This opportunity also gave me the pleasure of meeting Graham Hood .
You may recognise Graham as the 53 year veteran pilot who put his remaining years employed by QANTASāin his childhood dream jobāon the line by speaking up about the injustice and madness of forced (mandatory is an offer, remember) vaccinations.
In his videoāwhich went viral around the world because of his sincerity and vulnerabilityāGraham spoke to the heart of the matter at hand, which is, essentially, choice.
Graham believes, as I do, we should all have a choice over what goes into our bodies.
A simple belief in a basic human right that, for some reason, is a big deal right now.
Choice.
Thanks Graham for standing up for Australia and the world.

NEW video for 'Free The Nation' out today.
Free The Nation is a celebration of brave musicians and music fans coming together to support freedom, choice and love, in a world without discrimination or segregationāa beautiful world.
I wrote this song after launching the Free The Nation Music campaign in response to the #vaxthenation campaign. Free The Nation Music brings together musicians and music fans who believe in an inclusive community, one that is welcoming to all and free from segregation. A growing community that does not coerce or bully others into making a choice they may not otherwise make.
We all have the right to enjoy live music and to work and socialise freely.
These rights are our freedoms. They can never be taken away. No matter how hard some people try.

Iāll always remember what I was doing on the 20th anniversary of the falsest of flags: writing a song about freedom.
Twenty years on and weāre just, collectively, waking up to the lies our world has tried to swallow for generations.
But no matter how hard they force fed us we just couldnāt keep it down.
Freedom is like that: unstoppable.
PS. Free The Nation, the single, is out now on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music and all the regular digital outlets.

Life is surprising.
After being so deflated at seeing many of my childhood musical heroes (Bruce Springsteen, looking at you) coming out doing ājabbed-onlyā shows and others doing (paid) promotions of experimental injections I have now discovered that I am not alone in my desire to listen to and perform music free from forced or coerced medial procedures.
The list of musicians supporting freedom at https://freethenationmusic.com/musicians/ grows each day, and with it new playlists, full of music from artists with integrity.
I didnāt realise how much I was denying myself listening to music until putting these playlists together. Before FTNM it felt like the WHOLE music world had let me down; but of course it hadnāt. It was simply my attachment to old ideas and nostalgia holding me back.
But this is a brave new world. A world of new music from artists who share my values of freedom, choice and respect.
Itās a change for the better.
For sure.
Musicians in Australia have been conditioned for over a decade (maybe more) by state run radio (JJJ/ABC) to āthinkā in a certain way about all issues and not to stray.
Independent thought = banishment from major (corporate) dominated music scene.
Major festivals in Australia are now insisting acts bow to government directives to get jabbed or risk losing their slot.
But most musicians donāt even need overt blackmail to go along to get along; they are terrified of losing their fame or perceived position amongst peers.
Luckily, we have a growing community of freedom loving free-thinking musicians at Free The Nation Music who do not bully, coerce of intimidate others into doing what the corporate government bids.
Playlists on the website too.

Money? Fame? Adoration?
Worth nothing compared to our freedom.
But it seems many have sold their souls long ago.
May they see the light of truth before the darkness comes to swallow them completely.
