THE LAMP DEVOTION THURSDAY NOVEMBER 5 ON WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU? Luke 9:49-50 _49 Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.” 50 But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is on our side.”_ _ There are two categories of people in our world today: the first includes those who are on the Lord’s side; and then we have those who are living for themselves. There are people who have yielded their lives to the Lord and are serving Him. Then there are those who are still outside the fold, who need to be brought into the fold. There is no middle line. Jesus’ disciples did not know this truth and became concerned that some who were not with the 12 were casting demons in the name of Jesus. As far as Jesus was concerned, men are either on His side or against Him. Those on His side are those who are totally yielded to Him and have nothing to do with the world and what it offers. These are the ones the Apostle Peter calls the peculiar people. The world struggles to understand them. In fact, the world sees them as weird. Then there are those who are in the fold alright, but their lives are not much different from those outside the fold. They blend so perfectly with the world that it is difficult to know where they stand. Woe unto you if you dare suggest to them that they are not children of God. This question will continue to be valid until Jesus comes: “Who is on the Lord’s side?”. Every morning when you wake up from bed, a good question to ask yourself is this: “On whose side am I today? This is critical. Prayer 1. Thank God for sending His Son into the world to save and restore you to Himself. 2. Pray for the reciprocal love from you towards the God who loves you unconditionally. 3. Father, please help me to definitely take my position to be on Your side always. Declarations I declare that I am privileged that Jesus died to restore me unto the Father. In response to His love, I pledge my commitment to stand on God’s side for the rest of my life. Where the service of God is required, I shall not be found wanting.
